Toy Update!

If you've recently bought Sola Skewer from us, you've been automatically upgraded to the Sola Skewer V2.

The reason is a design integrity choice and just like Super Sunrise, we felt it was the right thing to do. The Sola sticks on the toy (loved by many beaks) are very soft and may not survive the shipping process. So we wrapped it in finger traps to make it more robust AND you feathered friends get something extra to play with.

Here's a quick quote/entry from the diary of a parrot owner.

"A Busy Beak, is a Happy One."

Just like us, our feathered friends need their enrichment. For us, it may well be a walk in the sun, having some food and drinks, taking a bath you name it. But for our feathered friends, enrichment comes from, but not limited to, foraging, chewing, shredding.

Keeping their beaks busy will keep them happy. Let me explain. Birds in general have high energy due to their high metabolic rate. All that pent up energy will have to go somewhere or else they may end up feeling restless and in some cases, aggressive. There are various ways to help them spend this energy like interactions, letting them stretch their wings with some recall training (even if they chose to walk to you, they are still spending the energy) and our personal favourite, through toys. That is the main function of our toys, to provide enrichment and ensuring our feathered friends and happy and spending their extra energy through play.

What's this?

Yesterday, we made public that we have discontinued Super Sunrise primarily based on design and function through the journey of assembly to delivery.

We know Super Sunrise is greatly loved. On the basis that it was a 'design flaw', we knew we could improve it with another iteration and bring this toy back on our store, and we did. We've now launched the Super Sunrise v2.

Whilst we're here, we'd like to take the opportunity to talk about product designs, iterations and functions. Yes, we make natural toys to encourage our feathered friends to play, shred and spend all that energy. When we make this for our own flock, we nilly w***y put something together. However, now that we are making this available for you all, we needed to shift our mindset a little bit. We are no longer just slapping materials together so our flock can play. The thought process now is different and we need to approach it from a product design's point of view.

We won't go into the whole thought process, but the biggest lesson for us is acceptance. We loved this design and thought it was perfect, but very quickly, we knew parts of it may not survive the delivery journey. If we had stood by 'it's perfect', we would have stopped improving. Accepting the flaws is and eye opener. So we redesigned this toy to survive the journey and came up with this iteration. The best part is, we could us the lesson from this iteration on other existing toys and future designs.

Farewell.

It was not an easy decision to make,
but it was logical.

We have decided
to discontinue the Super Sunrise.

This was loved by many and is one of the top picks. However, we find the Sola sticks in this design have a high chance of snapping during shipping. Ideally, we want our toys to arrive at their destination, not in pieces.

Sometimes, we have to say goodbye to a toy design for practical reasons while staying objective about it. The positive that came out of this is the lesson we learn about designing toys and how it will stay intact from assembly to delivery.

Fun with simplicity. The Sola Sandwich is loved by many as a quick go-to for some shredding fun. We find this to be a great convenient toy to have, especially if you're travelling with the carrier cage. Pop this in to keep them entertained. Your birdie companion will thank you for it.
