Nail clipping 🐾

Nail care is often overlooked, but it plays a vital role in your dog’s comfort, mobility and overall wellbeing.

When a dog’s nails become too long, they make contact with the ground before the paw does.
This can alter the way your dog stands and moves, placing unnecessary strain on joints and limbs. Over time this can lead to discomfort and affect your dog’s overall mobility

A nail trim may be due if:

- You can hear nails clicking on hard floors
- Nails are touching the ground when your dog is standing
- Nails are beginning to curve noticeably
- Your dog appears less comfortable on smooth surface

The ideal schedule varies depending on breed, age, activity level and the surfaces your dog walks on.
As a general guide, most dogs benefit from nail maintenance every 3–6 weeks, this will help the quick (blood vessel) to recede allowing nails to be cut shorter overtime.

Building a strong foundation of fear free grooming begins with those very first appointments!

Once your puppy is fully vaccinated, it’s the perfect time to introduce them to the grooming salon. Starting from a young age means we help create happy, confident dogs who see grooming as a normal part of life, not something to fear🐾

A few ways you can help at home:

- Light brushing with positive reinforcement
- Gentle handling of feet, ears and face
- Rewarding of calm behaviour
