Worked with this handsome guy and his sister today. Very reactive to other dogs which looks like aggression but there's always a reason, and in this case it looks like his protective instincts maybe kicking in as he stands by his owner.

He's a very strong boy and can be difficult to control when he fires up, so it's important to break this cycle, keep him calm and give him some space.

Then we can gradually work on building confidence so he doesn't feel the need to go into full blown protective mode every time he sees another dog.

Met this lovely Bully today to work on his reactivity to other dogs. He has such a pleasant nature with people and he walks like a dream but you know troubles coming if he gets sight of another dog.

He is very strong and really fires up which looks quite scary. Put a strategy in place today involving a change of equipment, owner staying calm, always keeping him moving and not pushing him too close to other dogs now he's in his peak adolescent phase.

Looking forward to following up in a few weeks to see how this lovely boy is progressing.

Met up with this lovely rescue dog from Bulgaria today working with his great owner on his reactivity on walks.
He's very nervous about anything that moves (bikes, cars, pushchairs, people etc) resulting in him barking and lunging which can look quite aggressive and makes walking him difficult.

The aim at the moment is not to be too ambitious, give him his space and teach him to be 'neutral' on walks. There were some very encouraging signs today and a plan is now in place to try to build his confidence over the coming weeks.

This handsome 12 month old Labradoodle is great with people but when he's on a walk you can predict a riot every time he gets first sight of another dog.

There is no doubt there is a lot of adolescent hormones going on but the aggression he shows is almost certainly an anxiety related defence mechanism.

Being approached by several off lead dogs didn't help but by keeping him moving , some calming sniffing on his own and some parallel walking, he made good progress today.

Met this lively 12 month old Collie last week.

10/10 on the excitability scale with all the issues that brings (jumping, pulling, mouthing etc).

Collies are so intelligent and working with his great family focusing on clear and consistent commands and then rewarding at exactly the right time, I'm confident we will iron out his quirks and end up with a very well behaved boy as he matures.

Checked in on this guy today - taken in from a rescue centre he was very underweight and a bit of a nightmare at first but it just shows how a bit of time, structure and patience pays off (all credit to his owner ) and he is turning out to be a lovely boy.

Still need to do a bit of work on reactivity to other dogs on walks but if we can catch him early and redirect before he fixates this is definitely fixable with a bit more time.

Great to meet the lovely Lyla on a home visit today. Rescued by the RSPCA after some low life illegally cropped her ears as a puppy but is now living her best life with a loving family in a great home.

Generally she's very well behaved but we just need to work a bit on her barking which can get a bit much at times. When dogs bark excessively it may be frustrating but remember in their head they are doing the right thing.

A bit of reverse psychology by giving them praise when they bark to alert you can be more effective in minimising the barking than shouting or scolding.

What a pleasure to meet this little guy today. Such a good boy and like most Frenchies having to cope with allergies. He's nervous and anxious when children are around and this can result in him reacting without warning.

This isn't uncommon and with the support of his great family we just need to make things more predictable and calm for him starting with a good routine and a bed that he can call his safe space where only he goes.

Great to meet this big handsome boy today. Very strong and right in the middle of adolescence with all the challenges that brings.

Rottweilers are some of the most amiable and trainable dogs you can find and I look forward to seeing this guy develop over the coming months with the help of a structured training plan.
