☀️ Hot weather advice ☀️
The temperatures are quickly rising, and our pets are feeling it just as much as us! Unfortunately the lovely sunshine can be very dangerous for our pets, with heatstroke being a big concern.
Signs of heatstroke are:
⚠️ Excessive panting
⚠️ Drooling
⚠️ Lethargy and weakness
⚠️ Vomiting
⚠️ Collapse
Contact your closest vet immediately if your pet is showing any of these signs. If left untreated, heatstroke can be fatal.
Thankfully, Indie and Blitz are doing an excellent job of demonstrating just some of the ways you can keep your pets cool!
Our cooling top tips are:
❄️ Always provide fresh water
❄️ Never leave dogs in cars
❄️ Keep exercise minimal, both indoors and outdoors
❄️ Keep the house cool by closing curtains/blinds and using fans
❄️ Use cool mats or cold, damp towels
❄️ Use cooling/wet bandanas
❄️ If your pet is tolerant, dampen their fur
❄️ Freeze likimats, kongs, chews, etc for a cold treat that will also keep them occupied
While we do aim to keep the practice cool through the use of fans and air conditioning, we do understand if you would prefer not to travel with your pets. If you would like to rearrange any appointments to a cooler time/day, please call us on 0161 476 4300.
Stay safe and stay cool!
