🐾🎓 Congratulations to Biscuit – our latest Store Paws Graduate! 🎓🐾

Today was a very special day as Biscuit officially graduated from his training programme with Store Paws Dog Training Service!

When we first met, Biscuit and his family were facing a few challenges, but through patience, consistency and lots of positive reinforcement, they've made fantastic progress together.

Today he received his Graduation Certificate, Graduation Report and his very own Store Paws Graduate rosette (and looked rather smart in his graduation cap too! 🎓).

The best part of my job isn't teaching dogs to sit or stay – it's giving owners the confidence to understand their dogs and enjoy life together.

Congratulations, Biscuit! I'm so proud of everything you've achieved. ❤️🐾

Our little Rosie's IVDD experience(s) were discussed on an IVDD episode of the Petgevity Podcast (they published it in July to coincide with National IVDD Awareness Month).
Really interesting listen. Fabian Rivers discusses with Dr Mark Lowrie how to identify the symptoms, management, explanation of the surgery, post-surgery expectations, risk reduction, screening tests for breeders, etc...

Update: Government Response Received — But the Loophole Still Exists

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported and shared the petition so far — we’re now approaching 900 signatures, which is incredible. I wanted to share an important update.

My MP’s office has forwarded a response from the Government. They’ve acknowledged concerns about online trends that encourage or promote acts of animal cruelty, and confirmed that animal cruelty is considered a “priority harm” under the Online Safety Act.

However, the reply does NOT address the specific loophole highlighted by the Animal Sentience Committee (ASC) in their October 2024 report — the loophole that allows pre‑recorded animal cruelty videos to circulate online even when they show deliberate harm.

The Government’s response only refers to illegal content risk assessments.
The ASC made it clear that pre‑recorded cruelty videos are not automatically illegal, meaning platforms are not required to remove them unless the content explicitly encourages others to commit similar acts.

This gap still exists.

Defra and the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology have discussed the issue internally, but there is no confirmation that:

- the legal status of pre‑recorded cruelty has changed
- platforms must remove such videos
- ASC recommendations have been implemented
- any timeline exists for closing the loophole

So the petition remains essential. Harmful content is still able to spread, and we’re seeing real‑world consequences in our communities.

I’ve written back to our MP asking for clarification, and I’ll keep everyone updated as soon as I hear more.
