From the information currently available, this is not a proposal to ban people from owning these breeds. The discussions relate to concerns about inherited health and welfare issues that affect certain breeds, including"

As temperatures start to rise, it’s important to help our dogs stay cool, comfortable, and safe during the warmer weather 🐾

Here are some simple top tips from The Pet Academy:

💧 Keep fresh water available at all times
🌅 Walk early in the morning or later in the evening when it’s cooler
🔥 Avoid hot pavements, test with your hand for 5 seconds first
🏡 Make sure your dog has access to shade and cool spaces indoors
🍉 Offer dog-safe frozen treats to help cool them down
🚗 Never leave your dog in a parked car, even for a short time
🐕‍🦺 Don’t overexercise in the heat, rest breaks are important

Keep an eye out for signs of overheating such as heavy panting, excessive drooling, tiredness, vomiting, or wobbling. If you’re concerned, contact your vet straight away.
