Poorly fly strike boy, surprisingly made the night. He's sleeping lots, ate a tiny amount of mousse in the night. He's still passing out fly eggs which he must have digested when they were Laid inside his mouth. Its up to him to fight. I'm treating his internal parasites. His parasite levels look low under the scope but his poos smell horrid. Hopefully he keeps improving. Took a few more ticks off him today. Still more to do.
Here he is sleeping just now after having his fluid injections.

Unfortunately this didnt work im grateful for the sales but only sold one hog item and two items from the other table.So...

Unfortunately this didnt work im grateful for the sales but only sold one hog item and two items from the other table.So wont take part again. A shame I was up till very late getting hoggy items ready.

All set up for the yard sales. Lots of cheap books and some kids toys, a fire pit and more. Plus a stall of lovely hedgehog themed items raising money for the hedgehogs. Gedney drove end lots of properties taking part. Were just up from the village hall.

This poor guys come in. Sitting outside a lady's front door. Covered in fly strike on its face and belly. Its taken me over a hour to remove the fly strike.
Its very important with fly strike to check all openings, so the mouth, eyes, nose and bottom. He had eggs in his ears and mouth and even though I couldn't see any in his man parts I gave the area a spray with a special spray and not long after he did a tiny poo with all fly eggs on the end!He has lots of ticks to. He has the start of ringworm and his poo sample showed coccidia, lungworm and cap.
He's had some injectable fluids and is now warming up. But he's extremely poorly. So fingers crossed. I will have to keep checking him for hatching maggots and missed fly eggs.
As the saying goes out in the day is not okay. Hogs sitting around or moving very slow need help.

Hoping for good weather for the weekend as I have releases to do. I'm also taking part in the village yard sales. I have lots of books and other items that need to go.
Im also going to have a table with hoggy items for sale to raise funds for the rescue. So if your local and fancy a drive out come over and check out all the yards that are taking part in the yard sales.

8 hedgehogs have gone free in last couple of weeks. That's a big number for my little rescue. Hopefully another one will...

8 hedgehogs have gone free in last couple of weeks. That's a big number for my little rescue. Hopefully another one will go free this weekend.

Lemon came in at 211 grams from Peterborough, was very thin and hyper. Treated for all parasites and ringworm. Was asleep for several months. Gone to my release site at tydd at Lisa's weighting 900 grams.
Jasmine came in from Peterborough at 188 grams very dehydrated and passing blood. Treated for all parasites and went to sleep for a few months. Released to Lisa's at tydd with lemon weighing 955 grams.
Mallow came in at 237 grams with bad ringworm. Treated for all parasites. Slept of the winter and went free over to Lisa over Peterborough weighing 930 grams.
Paul came in at 846 grams from Peterborough after being disturbed making a nest in a garden and picked up by the dog. Treated for ringworm and internal parasites. Slept of the winter and went free near to his original home with Lisa in Peterborough. Weighing 1170 grams.
Juniper one of three siblings with bad ringworm from Mandy's garden. 153 grams treated for all parasites and a very long battle with ringworm. Had to have teeth removed at the vets as they wouldn't fall out and we're stopping her eating properly. Went back home weighing 811 grams.
Licorice 264 grams, another of the siblings from Mandy's garden. Treated for a long period for ringworm. All other parasites treated and again had to go to vets to have teeth removed. Went home weighing 941 grams.
Nasturtium found in Peter's garden in my village just sitting out in the cold at night not moving. 507 grams. Bad coccidia and other internal parasites plus ringworm. All clear and went back home weighing 956 grams.
Fino came in at 138 grams from my vets. Found out in the day. Puss filled lump on back and a few ticks. Treated for internal parasites and went to sleep for the winter. Treatments for ringworm before release at Christine's weighing 1230 grams.
Thanks to everyone for getting these ones help and to everyone that offers their gardens up as release sites.

And if you haven't heard the noise a baby hedgehog makes you can hear it in this video. A high pitched squeaking sound. This video is of them all together quickly while I cleaned the hutch bed area out.

Mums well and 1136 grams. Theirs 3 girls and one boy. I believe the boy to be one of the new borns from the first video ...

Theirs 3 girls and one boy. I believe the boy to be one of the new borns from the first video I posted because just like when I watched mum trying to pick him up and take him back to the nest she couldn't because he was jumping and huffing at her. Which made me believe she was a first time mum.
And when I got him out to weigh him today he was just the same jumping and huffing.
So ive given them all a little colour mark so that I know which is which to monitor their progress.
Girl one plum 96 grams
Girl two silver 85 grams
Boy blue 92 grams
Girl three green 96 grams.
All have eyes open or nearly open.
Gave the nest a quick clean out and it was very clean.
