Meet Our Championship show judge

Hi my name is Jill Hopkins (nee Lunt) I applied for the Travistock affix and developed my kennel in 1994, firstly showing Rottweilers in the mid 80s then Akita‘s since the mid 90s.

I’ve bred winning champion Akita’s all over the world, including Australia, America, South Africa, Russia, Europe and the UK. I have handled dogs to their titles here in the UK,Europe and Ireland.

I have judged many breeds in the working group and utility group at open show level since the late 1990s and I have attended a judging seminar by the Akita Club of America in 2000 in Frederick Maryland USA.

To be invited to judge this prestigious Akita specialty championship show is a dream come true.

Good luck to all competitors and remember we all take the best dog home.

Cilla was a singleton puppy her mum was scanned not having any baby’s so I was absolutely devastated as we haven’t had any puppy’s for 3 1/2 years.

Nobody was more Surprised than me when I was getting ready for work early morning to find Darcy going crazy in the next kennel I ran down the garden telling her to shut up when I heard crying and low and behold there she was clean dry fat puppy feeding away.

We haven’t announced Cilla as I needed to make sure she would survive, wasn’t a long coat and her bite would be ok and be good enough to show so here she is!!!
