Barney's Dog Boarding & Day Care

Barney's Dog Boarding & Day Care 5 Star Licenced and Fully Insured Dog Boarding and Day Care from our family home in Bitterne Park Southampton

Our dog boarding and day care business is run from our dog friendly home in Bitterne Park, Southampton. We live very near to Riverside Park which has lot of open space for dogs to run and play and there is good access to the river if they want to swim or just have a paddle. We have a fully fenced garden and plenty of space if your dog wants some quite time. All dogs are treated as family and will

receive lots of love and attention. We do our best to keep to their usual routine whilst you are at work or away on holiday and we take into account their usual sleeping place whether that be in a crate, in their own bed, on our sofa or upstairs with us. We have a 7-year-old Chocolate Labrador X Springer Spaniel called Barney that we rescued from a local dog rescue charity when he was 3 years old. Since then, we have made many friends with lovely dogs and we now go on lovely pack walks at weekends in woodlands in and around Southampton. Barney’s Dog Boarding was created out of our love for dogs and they seem to love us too. We were very often asked to look after dogs for friends and people that we met on our walks so we decided to turn our love of dogs into a business. We have also just started to foster dogs for a local dog charity in the hope that we can help them prepare for their forever homes. All dogs must be fully vaccinated and up to date with any flea/worm treatment.
*We cannot accept un-neutered males unless under 6 months old*

Lovely boy Stanley arrived this morning for his first sleepover with us! Pip enjoyed the final walk of his holiday while Rafa, Wilson and Rosie welcomed Stanley by taking him on a countryside adventure.🌿
🌞 We were treated to glorious warm sunshine with a lovely cool breeze, making it the perfect day for a dog walk. As soon as we reached the woods, the zoomies kicked in. Everyone dashed around the trees and weaved in and out of the muddy stream with huge smiles on their faces. Before long, we were out into the fields where they bounded through the long grass, making the most of the open space. 🌳πŸͺ΅
🌿 Pip treated himself to a good roll in the freshly cut grass before shooting off down the path like a little rocket. Stanley was so happy exploring with his new friends, taking everything in while never straying far from us. He was such a good boy. Rafa also enjoyed his walk at a gentler pace, staying close by and happily sniffing as we wandered along.
πŸ’¦ Our route eventually led us to the river and, as soon as they realised where we were heading, the gang raced ahead for a cooling dip before we'd even reached the bank. Water-loving Wilson and Rosie were in absolute paradise, splashing about with endless enthusiasm, while Pip and Stanley couldn't resist joining in for some fun too. Rafa was perfectly content to watch from the sidelines, keeping his handsome fur clean, dry and free from the muddy mayhem! πŸΎπŸ’¦
🌾 It was another wonderful countryside adventure filled with sunshine, wagging tails and happy faces 😊🐾

πŸŒΌπŸƒ A lovely breezy afternoon in the fields today with Ralphy, Rafa, Pip, Wilson and Rosie. The dry but overcast weather made for perfect walking conditions, and everyone was soon busy enjoying their own little adventures.
The daisy lined paths had recently been cut back, much to Ralphy's absolute delight. He threw himself onto his back and rolled around in the freshly cut grass as happy as could be, looking as though he'd found the greatest treasure imaginable. 🌼🌿
🐐 Little Pip made the most of every second too, bouncing and leaping through the long grass alongside Ralphy like two tiny mountain goats 🐐🐐 They even paused during their escapades for a spot of salad tasting. πŸ₯¬πŸ˜‚
😁 Rafa was happy to wander at his own relaxed pace, taking everything in with the biggest smile on his face from start to finish
🐾 Meanwhile, Wilson and Rosie stuck close together as always, following whichever exciting scent their spaniel noses discovered next 🐢❀️
πŸ’¦ We finished our walk with a visit to the pond, and as soon as the gang realised where we were heading, they raced off in anticipation. There was plenty of splashing, paddling and happy faces all round before it was time to head home after another wonderful countryside adventure. 🐾❀️

🐾 Woodland Wanders, Muddy Chins & Pebble Treasures 🌿πŸͺ¨
Lovely boy Rafa arrived for his holiday today and settled in beautifully before heading out on an adventure with gorgeous George, Rosie, Wilson, Pip and Milo, who enjoyed his final walk of his holiday before heading home later today. 🐾❀️
🌳 The woodland floor was still wet from the morning's rain, so muddy paws were almost guaranteed. Pip definitely embraced the conditions and spent plenty of time digging until he uncovered what was clearly the perfect pebble. It was such a prized find that he proudly carried it around with him, only putting it down every so often for another enthusiastic sniff and a bit more digging. πŸͺ¨πŸΆπŸŒ§
🐿 Wilson and Rosie were busy doing what they do best, racing around with their noses glued to the latest squirrel trails, while George somehow managed to end up with a muddy chin that made him look as though he'd been snacking on soil. Whether he actually had been is another question entirely! πŸ™ˆπŸ€£
Milo, as always, was completely happy to go with the flow, quietly following his friends while exploring the ferns and weaving between the trees along our route. 🌿
🐾 Back on the green, everyone enjoyed another game of ball. Rafa even joined in with the chase, although he wasn't quite ready to compete for possession just yet. Hopefully his confidence will grow as his holiday continues. He seemed much happier gently pottering around and exploring the woodland while the others charged about.
🌧 Despite only having a light drizzle throughout the walk, everyone still managed to end up wonderfully wet and muddy. A successful woodland outing by dog standards! 🐾🌧️

β˜€οΈ A beautiful Wednesday adventure in the countryside 🐾🌼
🐾 Friendly little Kai came to spend the day with us, as he does every Wednesday, and was more than happy to head off for another countryside adventure with fellow Jack Russell Pip, alongside Milo, Wilson, Rosie and Ralphy.
🌞 We were lucky with the weather once again, so there were no wet dogs to dry off afterwards, and everyone even managed to resist diving into the mucky pond. Quite an achievement! πŸ˜„
🌿 Milo had a real spring in his step all morning, wearing a huge smile as he bounded through the long grass in search of his treasured ball. Ralphy and Pip enjoyed some energetic rough and tumble play in the woods, chasing and wrestling together before dashing back out into the open.
🌳 Wilson set off on one of his own little expeditions, happily exploring the woodland while always keeping us in sight. Rosie was simply delighted to be out with her friends, charging through the grass with that ever-present smile that says she's exactly where she wants to be.
🌼 Pip, as always, was full of character and curiosity. He couldn't resist veering off the daisy-lined paths to investigate every interesting scent he came across, occasionally disappearing into the woods for a good nose around before bouncing back to rejoin the group.
πŸͺ΅ Kai was his usual cheerful self, making friends with everyone and thoroughly enjoying another Wednesday filled with fresh air, wagging tails and plenty of fun in the countryside. 🐢🐾❀️

🌞 Blue Skies, Big Zoomies & Pond SplashesπŸ’™ 🐾
Today's weather turned out to be a lovely surprise. Instead of the rain we were expecting, we were treated to glorious blue skies for our walk with gorgeous Lurcher Chewie, Milo, Wilson, Pip and Rosie β˜€οΈ
Chewie absolutely loved racing through the long grass and, with her graceful shape, size and beautiful colouring, she looked just like a deer bounding across the fields. She was elegance in motion and clearly hoping one of her friends would give chase. Little Pip was more than happy to accept the challenge! Despite being the smallest of the gang, our feisty little chap wasn't intimidated by Chewie's size one bit, and watching the two of them tear around together had us all smiling.
🌹 Rosie fancied joining in too, but sweet, timid Rosie decided Chewie's energetic play style was just a little too much for her, preferring to stay close by instead. πŸ’•
Meanwhile, Milo and Wilson enjoyed charging through the tall grass before we stopped for a game of ball. Pip and Chewie turned it into quite the competition, sprinting side by side and reaching the ball almost neck and neck every time. It was impossible to tell who wanted it more! πŸ€
To round off another wonderful adventure, we headed to the pond where everyone enjoyed a cooling splash before making our way home. A perfect ending to a day that swapped rain clouds for sunshine and filled the fields with happy paws. πŸΆπŸ’¦

🌿🐾 Woodland Adventures After the Rain 🐾🌿

Pip, Milo, Wilson, Rosie and Ralphy enjoyed a lovely woodland walk today. It had been raining before we arrived, so the ground was wet and muddy, but thankfully the rain stopped just in time and the sun soon made an appearance. 🌞
🐾 Before we could even think about heading into the woods, Pip and Ralphy made it very clear that a game of ball was required. They happily played fetch for a while, and Wilson and Rosie entertained themselves by splashing through every puddle they could find. Milo was perfectly content wandering around with his ball, proudly carrying it wherever he went.
🐾 Once we finally set off into the woods, the woodland floor was still damp from the rain. There was that fresh, earthy smell that only comes after a shower, with droplets of water still falling from the leaves overhead. It made for a wonderfully refreshing walk.🐾
🌳The dogs had a fantastic time exploring the winding woodland paths, sniffing among the trees and investigating every interesting scent they came across. There were muddy paws, wagging tails and plenty of happy faces as they followed the trails through the trees and enjoyed the cooler weather after the rain.
Before heading home, everyone took a dip in the pond to wash off some of the mud. πŸ’¦πŸΎ Of course, any hopes of keeping clean didn't last long, as they all enjoyed one final run around on the grass afterwards. Watching them race around together, full of energy and enjoying the sunshine, was the perfect way to end our adventure.
🐾 A wonderful walk with a fantastic group of friends and a great reminder that a little mud only adds to the fun! πŸŒ³πŸ•πŸ’šπŸ˜Š

Field Adventures in the Tall Grass 🌾🐾
🐢 Milo has come to stay for a few nights, and today he joined Ralphy, Pip, Wilson and Rosie for a walk at one of our favourite spots in the countryside.
🌿 The grass has grown so tall that we could barely see the dogs as they raced through it. Little Pip was completely hidden most of the time, disappearing into the greenery like a tiny furry submarine! It's a good job he's such a good boy and always comes straight back when called.
🐾 Milo was happiest when we stopped for a water break and got the balls out. Ralphy, Rosie and Wilson took turns chasing and retrieving them, making the most of the open space. Even more impressively, no balls were lost today, which felt like a small miracle considering the grass is now more jungle than field! 🌿
Milo was perfectly content carrying his ball around as he explored the grass. Every now and then he would find a nice spot to lie down and have a good chew on it before setting off on his adventures again. 🐾Meanwhile, Pip supervised from somewhere deep within the long grass, occasionally popping up to make sure we hadn't forgotten about him. 😊🐾
🐾🌿 It was a lovely walk with lots of running, exploring and happy dogs enjoying the summer countryside. β€οΈπŸ•πŸŒΎ

β˜”πŸΎ Rainy Day Romp in the Fields πŸΎβ˜”

Little Pip is back with us for another holiday, and today we welcomed Tito for his trial session alongside Rosie and Wilson. We headed out fully prepared for wet weather, and the rain certainly didn't disappoint. It was rain, rain and even more rain from start to finish! 🌧
Pip and Tito made the most of their off-lead time, charging around the fields with endless energy and taking every opportunity to burn it off. Wilson and Rosie were delighted to spot Willow and her friends and immediately ran over to say hello, tails wagging furiously 🌿
🌧 Despite the soggy conditions, we stopped for a game of ball in the long, wet grass. It quickly turned into a game of sniff-and-search as the ball kept disappearing into the greenery, much to the dogs' amusement. Their noses were certainly put to good use today!
πŸ’¦ To round off our adventure, we stopped by the pond for a splash about before heading home. Pip and Tito happily jumped in, and then came a moment I've been waiting for... Rosie finally realised she could actually swim! It may not have been entirely intentional on her part, but she paddled her way through the water all by herself. I was so excited that I couldn't help cheering her on from the bank. πŸŽ‰πŸΎπŸ’¦
🌧 The rain may have soaked us all through, but it certainly didn't dampen anyone's spirits. The dogs had a fantastic time exploring, running and playing together, and by the end of the walk everyone was more than happy to head back to the car, wrapped up in their cosy drying coats for the journey home. πŸ•πŸŒ§οΈπŸ’š

Our evening adventure took us down to the river with Teddy, Wilson and Rosie. πŸŒ…πŸ’¦πŸΎ
🐾 It was a warm evening and, with three water-loving pooches, there was only one way to finish the day... a walk through the park and a splash in the river!
πŸ’¦ As soon as Teddy and Wilson realised where we were heading, they charged off ahead at full speed. Rosie ran with them but soon stopped to check in before racing back to us, the good girl that she is. ❀️
πŸ’¦ The trio had a wonderful paddle and splash before we continued our walk towards the bridge. That's when the boys decided it would be a brilliant idea to head back into the river. Normally that wouldn't have been a problem, but with the tide out, they found themselves ankle-deep in thick black stinky mud instead! 🀣
πŸ’¦ Rosie went to investigate what they were up to and soon returned looking just as muddy as the boys. Three mucky pups later, we had no choice but to head back to the bay so everyone could wash off before going home.
πŸ’¦ Perhaps they knew exactly what they were doing all along... one last swim before bedtime! πŸ€£πŸ’¦πŸΎβ€οΈ

🌼🐾 Countryside Capers and daisy Path Adventures! 🐾🌼
🐻 Today was a special one as Teddy arrived for his trial sleepover, while Freddie came to spend the day with us. After some excited greetings, we headed off to the fields with Rosie, Wilson, Milo and Ralphy for a countryside adventure.
🌿 It didn't take long for Teddy and Freddie to become firm friends. The pair tore through the long grass together as if they'd known each other forever, bouncing and racing across the fields with huge smiles on their faces. Not wanting to miss out on any of the fun, Ralphy made it his mission to join every game, charging after them wherever they went.
🌿 Meanwhile, Wilson, Milo and Rosie enjoyed their own style of adventure, weaving through the grass and stopping regularly to investigate every interesting scent, rustling leaf and mysterious patch of countryside that caught their attention.
🌼 The walk along the daisy-lined paths was absolutely beautiful today. The flowers are in full bloom and created the perfect backdrop for our happy little gang. Best of all, every dog was wonderfully behaved, staying together as we explored the countryside, which made for such a relaxed and enjoyable walk.
A day full of new friendships, wagging tails, daisy-filled views and plenty of happy memories. πŸŒΌπŸŒΏπŸ•πŸΎβ€οΈ
