I made a post two days ago about the five kittens I've found living in an awful environment.
I never expected it to get as much attention as it did, and I'm so grateful for all of the support and donations of towels/blankets I've received.
This is a little update about what's been going on over the past few days since my original post 😊
🐾🐾🐾KITTEN UPDATE🐾🐾🐾
Treacle was the first kitten we found. She was on her own in the middle of a garden, screaming her head off. She started off not wanting to eat at all, and if she did it would only be 2mls. I'm now happy to say that she's drinking at least 15mls of kitten milk every single time we feed her! She has come on so much, and the weight she's putting on makes me feel so proud.
Sambucca, one of the next three kittens found, is huge. Originally weighing in at 310g and as of yesterday a whopping 400g, I couldn't be happier. He is struggling to go to the toilet, but hopefully over the next few days when his worming course is finished he will. If not it will be another vet trip for him!
🐾🐾🐾APPRECIATION🐾🐾🐾
I went to microchip some cats at Last Resort Rescue yesterday and picked up two windowsill mats from them for our two cats (Pictured below! They are £15 each, make a great addition to your house and window cats love them!! They're also handmade! All profits go back into the care of their cats)
They also gave me several syringes to feed the kittens. They've shown me so much information about when to worry, what to look at online for credible help (such as the Kitten Lady in America) , and honestly just shown me so much kindness with what I'm doing.
They were recently hand-rearing a kitten called Oliver. They thought he was doing amazingly, but he sadly passed away earlier this week. They obviously have so much more experience with cats and hand-rearing kittens than I do, which only makes me more nervous to be hand-rearing Treacle and Sambucca. Even though they seem to be doing amazingly, they aren't out of the woods yet.
A lovely woman called Trina brought me some towels, wormer and flea spray which you can use from 2 days old yesterday. Another thank you to Kayla, Kim (and neighbours), Natalie and Louise for the blankets and towels. We appreciate absolutely everything that has been given to us, and hopefully when these kittens no longer need them we will be able to boil wash them and donate them to a rescue who does need them too.
The support from our community has been overwhelming. Me, Anthony and my family really appreciate all of the physical donations we've received. It's been emotional.
🐾🐾🐾ADOPTING THE KITTENS🐾🐾🐾
For everybody showing interest in adopting the kittens, I'm sorry to say that I'm not even thinking about them leaving me or Anthony at the moment. They aren't cleared health-wise yet, and we're too sleep-deprived to think of much other than cats.
However, Last Resort Rescue has a ton of kittens and cats that need adopting. They are over capacity, and need to find homes for the cats they have otherwise they won't be able to help more, just like I'm doing.
Their cats are flead, wormed, spayed/neutered, microchipped by me, and cared for so amazingly. Please consider adopting from Last Resort, as they need just as much support as we've been getting (and we aren't even a rescue).
If you've made it to the end of this post, thank you so much for reading and supporting! If you're able to spare a few seconds to follow us, and Last Resort Rescue, that would be so appreciated to help us reach more people so more are aware of what is going on in the world of cats, and more people that might consider adopting from a local rescue.
