Are you feeling nervous about bringing your new baby home when you have a family dog? Or maybe you already have and things haven’t gone as smoothly you’d hoped! 🤍

It’s one of the biggest transitions your dog will ever experience… and so many owners are left wondering if they’re doing the right thing.

Because suddenly everything changes:
• New smells
• New sounds 👶
• New routines
• A very different home environment

And even the most loving, gentle dogs can feel unsure, overwhelmed… or just not quite themselves.

You might notice things like:
🐾 More clinginess (or the opposite — avoiding you)
🐾 Restlessness or difficulty settling
🐾 Changes in behaviour you didn’t expect

And it can feel worrying — especially when you’re already navigating life with a newborn.

The truth is, this stage matters more than most people realise.
How you handle those early days and weeks can shape how your dog feels about your baby long-term.

Have you ever struggled to leave your dog alone?
Are they
• Destructive?
• Cry and bark constantly?
• Wait by the door shaking?

This isn’t ‘naughty’ behaviour.
It’s fear, stress, anxiety 😔

Most people think this behaviour is a training issue…
but it’s actually emotional.

When your dog:
• barks when you leave
• destroys things
• waits by the door

…it’s not them being “naughty” or trying to get attention.

👉 It’s how they’re coping with being left alone.

For some dogs, it’s full panic.
For others, it’s stress or frustration that builds over time.

And one of the biggest mistakes I see?
Owners being told to “just leave them to it so they get used to it”

Unfortunately, this can make the problem worse.

The good news is — with the right approach, this can be improved 🤍
It just starts with understanding what your dog is feeling, not just what they’re doing.
