The autumn tapeworm window is open, and it's all about testing first.
September and October are the right time to carry out a saliva test for tapeworm before reaching for any wormer. BEVA and the BHS have been pushing this hard at this year's Congress under the 'Think Before You Worm' banner, and it is a message we strongly support.
An evidence-based, testing-led programme, worked out with your vet or a SQP, is kinder to your horse's gut than blanket treatment. If you have not already built this into your routine, autumn is the moment to start.
While you are thinking about gut health this month, BOOST works alongside good everyday management to support the microbial balance in the hindgut. Not a wormer, not a replacement for your programme, just a steady daily support from a source you can trust.
Has your yard switched to a test-before-you-treat approach? We would be interested to hear how you got on.
