I recently completed an online course with New Skills Academy, as I’ve always believed that when it comes to caring for animals, you can never really stop learning.
I already have plenty of hands-on experience with animals, but I think continuing to build on that knowledge is indispensable especially when you’re responsible for someone else’s much loved pets. Even when a course covers things you already know, there’s always something new to take away, or a different perspective that reinforces what you’re already doing.
I was genuinely surprised by how broad this course was, with over 20 modules covering dogs and cats plus small animal and reptile care, transportation, animal welfare, marketing and a whole section on troubleshooting different situations.
The course had a strong focus on animal welfare, responsible care and recognising the needs of different species, which I particularly enjoyed.
Alongside my practical experience, I also keep my professional training and responsibilities up to date, including business insurance and Pet First Aid training. I’ve included my certificates below for anyone who would like to see the additional steps I take to make sure I’m as prepared as possible when caring for your pets.
For me, it’s not about collecting certificates but it’s like adding tools to the toolbox to assist me,keeping my knowledge fresh and having the confidence to always make the best decisions for the animals under my care.
