With temperatures soaring, it’s so important to think twice before taking your dog out for a walk 🐾☀️
Hot weather can be dangerous for our dogs. Pavements can burn their paws, and unlike us, they can’t cool down easily. Even a short walk in high heat can lead to overheating or heatstroke, which can be life-threatening.
If it feels too hot for you, it’s definitely too hot for them.
Instead, try:
🐶 Walking very early in the morning or late in the evening
🐶 Letting them play indoors or in shaded areas
🐶 Keeping them hydrated with plenty of fresh water
🐶 Using enrichment games to keep them mentally stimulated
A quick check ... place your hand on the pavement for 5 seconds. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws!
