****NEW PET TRAVEL RULES FOR PASSPORT HOLDERS****

New pet travel rules are coming into force from April 22nd.

UK residents taking their pet to the EU using an EU issued pet passport will no longer be allowed to travel with this document.

These were previously issued to UK residents with second homes in the EU. You will now unfortunately need an animal health certificate to travel unless you can prove that your main residence is in the EU.

You need the animal health certificate within ten days of your date of entry to the EU.

Today was a real team effort! We had just finished a team meeting when Charlotte got a call to a dog who needed an emergency caesarian. Our new nurse Nicola raced to theatre to meet her and it was all go! The team at Old Flatts Farm jumped in to help revive puppies and it was a fantastic effort by all involved. A big thank you to everyone who helped and we wish the new mum all the best with her new arrivals :)

He is NOT an easy cat to live with. He is cat aggressive and MUST live in a household without other cats. He needs a large area to live in, preferably outside access
He needs a very cat savvy owner who lives in a remote area with no cat neighbours

You may have seen the CMA outcome in the news today following a two year investigation.

We are proudly independent, owned and run by our vet Charlotte for the past 9 years, with the support of our amazing team members.

The CMA rulings will not change anything for us, as we already comply with all of their decisions. We already give estimates for procedures, display our prices on our website and our written prescription charges are under the written prescription cap. Our practice and most other independent practices will not be affected.

Please keep supporting independent vet practices like ourselves, independent crematoriums like Old Flatts Farm Pet & Equine Crematorium and keep small family run businesses going! We really do care about you and your pets and we will all go out of our way to help you 🐾

Our new van Leonard returned to us yesterday fully converted by the amazing Chris from Morevan Services Limited. He always does a fantastic job of converting our vans and he even knows all their names! Thank you so much Chris. He's all ready for our new Vet Ellie to take out on visits next week 😁

Let's talk holidays! If you're travelling to Europe this year and you want to take your dog with you, please get in touch with us. We offer animal health certificates for £99 for travel as long as we have at least a week's notice.

In order to travel with your dog you only need to have your dog microchipped (which it should be already!), and have a rabies vaccination. We then formulate your animal health certificate for travel.

You need to give yourself at LEAST a month before travel to do this if your pet doesn't have a valid rabies vaccine already. The rabies vaccine is valid for three years! You then just need a vet in Europe to worm your dog and sign your certificate to be able to come back to the UK. You can usually book this online.

Home visit and Rabies vaccine = £80
Saturday rabies vaccine at our Barlborough base £45
Animal health certificate= £99
Additional dogs belonging to the same owner on the health certificate = £25 per dog

A few countries require a wormer to be given before entry, but we will let you know if you need this!

As the year comes to an end we are very grateful for all of the friends we have made this year (both human and furry!).

Life can be a bumpy road, and it's those friends that get us through the rough times. Never underestimate the power of a hug from your furry friend after a bad day.

We have sadly said goodbye to lots of animals this year, but it is so humbling to see how they are always surrounded by so much love when families say goodbye to them at home. We see photos, drawings, paintings, letters, toys, teddies, beds and many many tears. I'm always so glad that you were there for them to give them the amazing life they had with you, and in return they were there for you, helping you through the difficult days.

So let's be thankful for every dog walk and every cuddle. Every cat meow and every snuggle. They bring so much joy to us every day.

Happy new year to all of our clients and friends! :)

Merry Christmas from all of our team!

A job is made great by the people who you work with, and I work with really great people in both our Travelling vet team and the businesses who we work alongside. I am so very lucky to call these wonderful people my friends.

To all of our clients, thank you for making us laugh and having a giggle with us during visits. Thank you for all of the offers of hot drinks and biscuits, and thank you so much for trusting us with your animals.
