Proud to be a member! The Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors is a UK-based network of qualified animal behaviour practitioners and Clinical Animal Behaviourists working alongside veterinary teams to promote animal welfare. It is great to have this network and be able to
meet with other behaviourists and vet behaviourists to talk through cases.

10 years of self employment and working with animals today! 🐾🐾🐾

I’d say it all started with a phone call to the Kings Trust but I think it was earlier than that 🙂

My Mum was made redundant from her office job (scary as a single mum as you can imagine..) when I was about 8 and she started her own self employed cleaning business. I used to help her at the weekends now and again and she’d pay me for my help! 🙂 I used to wall Scrappy the little Yorkie Terrier around Jersey Farm while she cleaned a lady’s house🐶. My first job as a teenager was as a Saturday Girl washing peoples hair (one lady was very worried I would make her face wet but I didn’t so gave me a 50p tip!). My Mum worked so blinkin hard and has such a work ethic. Thanks to my Mum for EVERYTHING, I loved having brekkie with you this morning in the yummy .

There’s a lot of doom and gloom around at the moment especially for young people, so I’d always say reach for help. The Kings Trust were amazing, they helped give me a plan, a low interest rate loan when I first started and an amazing mentor Peter Barker! Do check them out or if you know someone who needs help - mention them to them. They were brilliant and I don’t think I’d be 10 years in without their help and the start. They don't just help with business but education and training for jobs too...

There’s about a gazillion people I could thank, starting off with my lovely clients and their pets, but special shout out to some super people who have helped me so much along the way… from Business Women Untd STANTA , .rdsfitness , Linda Ryan for her mentoring at and local pet shops for welcoming me and hosting some pet behaviour Q and A sessions.

Here’s to the next 10 years of meeting amazing pets and people. ###

After 12 wonderful years of running Slumbering Hound - first from my dining room table, and for the last seven years from my shop and studio at Hatfield Park - the time has come for me to change direction.

With that in mind, I’ve made the difficult decision to close the shop and sell off all remaining stock, both in-store and online with a massive 50% discount for most products.

Going forward, I’m going to be concentrating on my illustration commissions, Drawing Workshops and artwork - things I’m incredibly excited to have more time to focus on.

I want to say a huge thank you to every single one of you for your support of me and my little business over the years. Whether you’ve bought something, come to a workshop, commissioned a drawing, popped into the shop for a chat, or simply followed along - it has meant the absolute world to me.

My shop will be closing in November, so if you’re looking for some early Christmas shopping, please head over to my website or pop into the shop and grab yourself a bargain while you can.
