🐾 A little update from Happy Hound Retreat 🐾

We are incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful group of dogs and their humans, and our diary has now reached the point where we are no longer able to take on any new clients. ❤️

This means we can continue giving our existing dogs the time, care and attention they deserve without overstretching ourselves.

For our existing clients, please contact us by text or WhatsApp rather than Facebook Messenger, as our Messenger inbox will no longer be regularly monitored.

Next year, our boarding availability will be more limited as our bakery and event schedule continues to grow. We’ll still be looking after our existing clients where we can, but availability will be more selective and dates may fill quickly.

Thank you so much for your continued support and for trusting us with your dogs. We really do appreciate every single one of you. 🐶❤️

🚨 🚨 CUSTOMER SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨🚨

It is with great regret (and a little bit of disbelief) that I have to announce…

🐾 Happy Hound Retreat is officially FULLY BOOKED for the Isle of Wight Festival weekend 2027! 🐾

📅 17th–21st June 2027

And here’s the part that still makes me smile…

Our Woofstock 2026 guests clearly had such an amazing weekend that they booked their 2027 holiday before this year’s festival had even finished! 😂

To be fair… who could blame them?

🎪 Their very own Woofstock included:
🍦 Doggy ice creams
🫧 Doggy bubbles
💦 Cooling splash pools
🌸 Sprinklers
🧩 Plenty of enrichment
🎾 Garden games
❄️ Keeping cool in the air conditioning
💚 Endless cuddles (on demand, of course!)

It was only right that our four-legged guests got their own festival while their humans enjoyed theirs! 🐶🎶

The biggest compliment I could ever receive is knowing our festival guests had such a fantastic stay that their families secured next year’s booking before they’d even headed home. ❤️

So yes…

🤣 The Isle of Wight Festival 2027 weekend is already full.
🤣 Our 2028 diary is already open.
🤣 And yes… there are already bookings in that too!

A huge thank you to every family who trusts us with their dogs. Your support genuinely means the world, and we can’t wait to welcome our Woofstock crew back in 2027! 🐾💚

☀️🐾 HOT WEATHER POLICY NOW IN PLACE 🐾☀️

The safety and wellbeing of our guests will always come first at Happy Hound Retreat.

With the warmer weather arriving, our Hot Weather Policy is now in place. This means walks may be shortened, moved to cooler parts of the day, or replaced with alternative enrichment activities where necessary.

But don’t worry… our current boarding dogs are about to have their very own Isle of Wight Festival! 🎶🐶

Here’s what’s on the line-up:

We may swap some walks for garden play, water games, bubble chasing, sniffing activities and enrichment sessions, because a happy dog isn’t measured by miles walked—it’s measured by how much fun they have! 💚

Because when the temperatures rise, the fun doesn’t stop at Happy Hound Retreat — we simply bring the festival home! ☀️🐕💦🫧

🎪🐾 Welcome to Woofstock 2026! 🐾🎪

We hope all of our boarders’ pawrents are having an amazing time at the Isle of Wight Festival this weekend! 🎶☀️

While you’re enjoying the music, the dogs have been enjoying their very own festival here at Happy Hound Retreat! 🐶✨

There have been plenty of treats, bubbles, playtime, cuddles, tail wags and festival vibes as we’ve made sure every guest is having a fantastic holiday of their own.

From our happy campers to our VIP festival guests, everyone has been having an amazing time making memories with their furry friends. 💚

Don’t worry about your dogs while you’re away – they’re safe, happy, loved and being thoroughly spoiled until you’re home.

Now, who’s having the better weekend… the humans or the dogs? 🤔🐾🎶

🐾🎉 Happy 1st Birthday, Happy Hound Retreat! 🎉🐾

Today, Happy Hound Retreat officially turns one year old! 🥳

One year ago, we welcomed our very first guests and began our journey of providing a safe, loving home-from-home environment for dogs on the Isle of Wight.

Over the last 12 months we’ve had the privilege of caring for some incredible dogs, enjoyed countless walks, play sessions, cuddles and adventures, and made so many wonderful memories along the way. ❤️

We would like to say a huge thank you to every dog owner who has trusted us with their beloved four-legged family members. Your support means the world to us and has helped Happy Hound Retreat grow into what it is today.

And of course, a special thank you to all of our amazing canine guests for keeping us entertained, making us laugh and reminding us every day why we love what we do. 🐶

We’re incredibly excited to see what the next year brings and look forward to welcoming many more wagging tails through our doors.

☀️🐾 Hot Weather Policy Activated at Happy Hound Retreat 🐾☀️

With the weather set to warm up over the next couple of days, the comfort and safety of our dogs comes first 💚

To keep everyone cool and happy, we’ll be swapping long walks for lots of safe, enriching activities here at the retreat instead 🐶

Here’s what we’ve got ready:
💦 Paddling pool
🎾 Ball pit fun
🌬️ Fans throughout the retreat
🧊 Frozen lickimats
🍦 Doggy ice creams on order
🧠 Plenty of enrichment activities & mental stimulation

During hotter temperatures, enrichment and calm play are far safer than walking on hot pavements or overexerting in the heat ☀️

We’ll continue to monitor all dogs closely and make sure everyone stays cool, hydrated, comfortable and entertained throughout the day 🐾

Bonnie and Biscuit are definitely ready for pool time already 😆💚

For a small Isle of Wight business that started with a passion for creating healthy handmade treats for dogs, this nomination genuinely means so much to us.

Over the last few years we’ve had the privilege of meeting so many amazing dogs (and humans 🐾), attending local events, supporting fellow Island businesses, and even supplying treats to places like the Godshill Model Village and the The Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary 💛

Important Information 🐾

Due to ongoing ill health, we have made the decision to reduce the number of boarding dogs we take at one time.

To ensure we can continue providing the best possible experience for every dog in our care, Happy Hound Retreat will now be limiting boarding to just 2 boarders at a time where possible.

This allows us to maintain the calm, loving, home-from-home environment we pride ourselves on, while continuing to give each dog plenty of individual attention, enrichment, and care 💛

Any bookings already confirmed will not be affected.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨
(And no… this is NOT an April Fools joke! 😂)

As many of you know, we sadly lost our beloved Bertie 5 weeks ago 💔
He truly was the bestest boy, and there will never be another like him. He could never, ever be replaced.

However, we had to think about Bonnie, who had spent her whole life by Bertie’s side. Since losing him, she’s been feeling quite anxious without her big brother 💕

A couple of weeks before we lost Bertie, we received some lovely news from Tattney Gundogs— Bertie’s older sister (same mum and dad!) had just had a beautiful litter of 6 puppies 🐶

Then, just a week before we said goodbye to Bertie, we were incredibly lucky to be offered one of those puppies…

So, here we are… officially introducing the newest (and cheekiest!) member of the bakery and retreat family…
