Recently had a guinea pig come in with nails like this.
I don't judge when they come in like this as there's different reasons why they are this long.
However they shouldnt be this long
Long Nails Hurt
* Overgrown nails curl inward and can dig directly into the soft paw pads, causing painful open wounds.
* Long nails force the toes to twist, changing how the guinea pig walks and leading to chronic discomfort or arthritis.
* Long claws easily catch on fleece, wire, or bedding, which can tear the nail off completely or sprain the toe.
* The discomfort alters their gait, making them reluctant to move around, which increases the risk of secondary health issues like bumblefoot or GI stasis.
If your guinea pig wriggles wrap in a towel or take to your vet to get a regular nail clip.
