This absolutely boils my blood! I’ve also seen this video and others from this “professional walker” I won’t name and shame because that wouldn’t be professional of me. However taking dogs out in this heat is beyond irresponsible. We haven’t done any walks today due to the extreme heat 🥵 and even the dogs who have had welfare checks have been wanting to get back in the house as soon as they had been to the toilet.
What is frightening is our customers look to us for advice and rely on us to make the right decision. Some owners (not mine you’re all sensible and educated about dog welfare) don’t understand the dangers of walking dogs in heat and if this person is advising them that it’s safe they may not know any better. This is a prime example of someone putting income above welfare!
Myself and all the walkers I work closely with are all going to be nearly a full weeks wage down by the time this heatwave has finished but none of us would dream of putting a dogs life at stake to make money.
Please if you’re looking for a dog walker do your research, go on recommendations and if they tell you they walk dogs in extreme temperatures and it’s ok to do that then steer clear because they do not care about your dog!

And the other responsible dog walkers who have put dogs first this week 👏👏👏 🐾💕
Look, I'm not one to dis other walkers... but when I've just watched a walker throwing balls for dogs and geeing them all up, in this hot sun, it's hard to turn a blind eye. No respite from the sun, and not a bowl of water in sight.
Not that any amount of water would save a dog from heatstroke, once past the point of no return.
But.... Owners also need to take responsibility for who walks their dogs, and whether that walker is making the right decisions, and for the right reasons.
If you are thinking of using a walker, make sure they are meeting you and your dog BEFORE any walks take place, and ask questions... LOOOTS of questions. Make sure they know about dog wellness, and have knowledge of canine care, (especially in a heatwave), aswell as how to hold the end of a lead!!
