🐶✂️ WHEN DID YOUR PUPPY HAVE THEIR FIRST GROOM? 👀
This is one I’d LOVE to know!
There are so many different opinions about when a puppy should first visit the groomer…
8 weeks? 12 weeks? 16 weeks? Or wait until they actually need a haircut? 🤔
Personally, I think a puppy's first visits should be about learning, not getting the perfect haircut. ❤️
The earlier they can experience things like:
✂️ Clippers
💨 The dryer
🛁 Bathing
🐾 Having their feet handled
👂 Ears being touched
✂️ Nails being clipped
🪮 Brushing and combing
🐶 Standing on the grooming table
…the more normal these things can become as they grow up.
A puppy doesn't need to come in and have a full makeover on their first visit.
Sometimes it's simply:
“Come in, have a fuss, have a little brush, hear the dryer, have some treats and go home.” 🥰
Then gradually build up the experience.
Because let's face it…
A 30kg adult dog who has never experienced a dryer, clippers or having its feet handled is a VERY different proposition to a puppy that has been introduced to grooming gradually from a young age! 😂
And it isn't just about making grooming easier for the groomer.
It's about helping your dog understand that being handled and groomed is a normal part of life. ❤️
