Equinutrition is delighted to announce that I (Jennifer Little RNutr) had been nominated for BETA nutritional helpline of the year again. It’s amazed me that yet again as an independent equine nutritionist, who doesn’t have a team of people working on the helpline, it’s just me, I’ll be up against the big feed companies. Thank you for all the nominations 😍 If you haven’t nominated but would like to, I’d be very appreciative x

Today the qualitative data analysis part of the Good Doer Project starts. 🖊️ Why is Equinutrition particularly excited to find out what’s been captured from the owner interviews? Well simply put, I can’t wait to find out what shared themes from owners experience during planned horse weight loss are found. This is the first time this type of research (longitudinal thematic analysis) has been carried out in this field, following owners throughout a weight loss program with their own horses. Feeling really hopeful that this part of the PhD will yield real insights as how I/professionals can help support such owners in the future.

I’m so proud as an independent equine nutritionist that I’ve been nominated for the BETA nutritional help line for the last three years and that I’ve been up against some of the largest and longest standing British feed companies, companies that can invest in whole teams of people for their helplines. If I’ve worked with you and your 🐴 and you’d like to nominate me again for 2026, I’d be very grateful. BETA works hard to set industry standards and continually strives for the welfare of horses and all those that work with them

Every Friday, we share useful tips to help you navigate the world of equine nutrition, but we always emphasise that the best way to get your horse’s diet exactly right is to seek individual, made-to-measure advice.
That is why, every year, we recognise the very best in the business with the ENFAR Nutritional Helpline of the Year award. This accolade is awarded to the company considered to offer true excellence in nutritional advice and service.

At the heart of the BETAs is a commitment to quality and high standards, and this award highlights those who provide expert guidance to ensure the health and well-being of our horses.

If a nutritional helpline has provided you with exceptional support, let us know!
Customers can nominate their favourite helpline via the online nomination form on the BETA website.
A shortlist will be drawn up for final judging, which includes incognito calls to ensure the advice provided is of the highest standard.

Make sure to submit your nomination by 29 June 2026. bit.ly/4pZJyic

The winner will be revealed at the glittering BETA Gala Dinner on Sunday, 27th September 2026, at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, NEC. It will be a fantastic evening featuring a three-course dinner and a live band—the perfect way to celebrate industry excellence.

A huge thank you to our sponsor, ENFAR- Equine Nutritionist and Feed Adviser Register, for their continued support of nutritional standards within the equestrian trade!

Does your go-to helpline deserve recognition? Head to the BETA website and nominate them today!

One of the things I love and strive for as an independent equine nutritionist is to help owners make their way through the 💣 field that is feeding information. Well today I received a wonderful email that simply read “thank you so much for coming out yesterday, you’ve really helped to take the worry away and being able to do 🥕stretches again felt great”. And for anyone who has missed my previous 🥕 posts… No! They (🥕) are NOT full of sugar. But, yes with a metabolic or overweight 🐴, everything, including treats, has to be taken into consideration when building a feeding recommendation 🖊️

For every horse owner who has been patient over the bank holiday weekend waiting for a response, and for every friend that has accepted a ‘no I’m working on my PhD’, thank you. The Good Doer Project thesis now stands at 47pages and I’m so excited to find out how the results may help owners and supporting professionals in advocating for our easy doers 😍

I am so proud of being one of the registered nutritionists in this group along with Clare MacLeod MSc RNutr Independent Equine Nutritionist. Why consider using an independent registered equine nutritionist? Because we provide advise without agenda, and being RNutrs are bound by the code of conduct from the Association for Nutrition.. aka ethical and evidence based.
