A little update from our C-Section 🥰 she is getting stronger and bigger by the day 💚

Growing bigger and stronger every day! 🐾💗 This little fighter was born via C-section and is doing wonderfully. We absolutely love seeing updates on our patients as they grow and thrive—it’s one of the best parts of what we do! 🥰🐱

🐾 Meet Pablo 🐾
Pablo, our sweet feline patient, is currently staying with us for IV fluid therapy (IVFT) and close observation to help support him with his Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). 💙🐱

While CKD is a long-term condition that cannot be cured, supportive treatment such as IV fluids can help with hydration, comfort, and maintaining his quality of life.

Our team is closely monitoring Pablo and giving him plenty of care, attention, and cuddles during his stay. 🐾💙

Meet Rita 💚🐾 Stray Cats: What Should You Do? 🐱
Stray cats are often misunderstood. Some may have been abandoned, while others are community cats who are used to living outdoors.

If you come across a stray cat:

🐾 Don’t assume they’re homeless — they may have a family nearby.
🏠 Check for identification such as a collar or microchip.
💧 Offer fresh water and, if appropriate, food.
🩺 Look for signs of illness or injury and contact a vet or local animal welfare organisation if they need help.
✂️ Neutering is important — it helps prevent unwanted litters and supports healthier cat populations.

🐱 What Happens During a Spay Procedure?
If your cat is booked in for a spay, you may be wondering what to expect. Here's a quick guide!

🩺 Before surgery
Your cat will have a pre-operative health check to make sure they're fit for their anaesthetic. They'll then receive a general anaesthetic so they remain asleep and pain-free throughout the procedure.

💙 During the procedure
A small incision is made into the abdomen, and the ovaries and uterus are surgically removed. This prevents pregnancy and eliminates future seasons (heat cycles).

✨ After surgery
• Your cat will recover in a warm, quiet area under close monitoring.
• Pain relief is provided to keep them comfortable.
• Most cats go home the same day with instructions for home care.

🏡 At home
• Keep your cat indoors and restrict jumping and rough play while they heal.
• Check the incision daily for redness, swelling or discharge.
• Prevent licking of the wound if advised by your veterinary team.
• Attend any recommended post-operative check-ups.

🌸 Spaying not only prevents unwanted pregnancies but also eliminates the risk of uterine infections (pyometra) and significantly reduces the risk of mammary cancer when performed before the first season.

🐾 Why Should You Castrate (Neuter) Your Male Cat?
Neutering is a routine procedure that offers lifelong benefits for your cat and helps reduce the number of unwanted kittens.

✨ Benefits of castration include:
• Reduces roaming and the risk of road traffic accidents
• Decreases fighting with other cats, lowering the risk of abscesses and infectious diseases such as FIV
• Reduces urine spraying and marking behaviours
• Can help reduce unwanted mating behaviours
• Prevents unplanned litters

🩺 Male cats can usually be neutered from around 4 months of age, before they reach sexual maturity. Your veterinary team can advise on the best timing for your kitten.

💙 Neutering won't change your cat's personality—they'll still be the same affectionate, playful companion.

After neutering, it's important to monitor your cat's weight, as their energy requirements may decrease. Feeding an appropriate diet and encouraging regular play can help keep them healthy.

This absolutely stunning Scottish fold 🤩 came in to us today for his castration procedure and to check in on his wound 🐾✨ after a good clean of his wound and some antibiotics he is on the mend ❤️‍🩹 making lots of biscuits on the way 🍪

🐾 Flea Allergy Dermatitis (FAD): More Than Just Fleas
Flea Allergy Dermatitis is one of the most common causes of itchy skin in both cats and dogs. It's not the fleas themselves that cause the problem—it's an allergic reaction to flea saliva.

⚠️ Signs to look out for:
• Constant scratching, biting or licking
• Hair loss, especially around the tail base and back
• Red, inflamed or scabby skin
• Overgrooming (especially in cats)
• Recurrent skin or ear infections

🐜 You may not even see fleas! Pets with flea allergies often groom them away before they're noticed.

🩺 Treatment usually includes:
✔️ Effective flea treatment for all pets in the household
✔️ Treating any secondary skin infections
✔️ Medication to relieve itching and inflammation
✔️ Environmental flea control if needed

💙 Prevention is the best treatment. Year-round flea prevention helps protect your pet from discomfort and prevents flea infestations in your home.

🐱 Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in Cats: Know the Signs
Kidney disease is one of the most common health conditions in older cats. It develops gradually, so the early signs can be easy to miss.

⚠️ Watch out for:
• Increased thirst and urination
• Weight loss
• Reduced appetite
• Vomiting or nausea
• Bad breath
• Lethargy or sleeping more than usual
• Poor coat condition

🩺 Early detection can make a big difference. Routine health checks and blood and urine testing can help identify kidney disease before symptoms become severe.

💙 While CKD cannot be cured, it can often be managed with:
• Prescription kidney diets
