Sadly we couldn’t get parked at Locke Park today, so Minnie enjoyed an adventure somewhere new instead.

We went to the Gare and enjoyed a wander through the sand dunes. Minnie loved it!

I could tell her senses were working overtime and that she was a little overwhelmed by it all at first, she was very forward and not listening as well as she usually does, so I let her do her thing and sniff around taking in all the information she needed to.

After 10 minutes or so she settled back to a steadier pace and generally seemed more settled in herself.

We walked up hills, down hills, along narrow tracks, through long grass, along the old road and even fell down a big hole because someone was looking behind whilst still walking (Minnie, not me 🤣)

We saw lots of birds and even a hare, which thankfully was far enough away for Minnie to not want to give chase and drag me along behind her 🤣

The girls definitely had that Friday feeling today.

Especially Minnie! 🤣

Crikey was she full of herself! Selective hearing, wanting to chase everything that moved and just generally being her fun cheeky self.

I think she’d have happily jumped through the car window when she saw Gypsy arrive. Her whole body quivered with excitement.

It was a lot cooler today, with a bit of a cool wind too, so they made the most of having more energy.

We walked through the woods and then on through Kirkleatham village. We’d just got through the gate by the school, and we saw a cat across the road.

Gypsy and Minnie stood watching, on high alert, poised ready to pounce! We hung back until the cat disappeared round the corner. And then boom, Gypsy erupted, full of frustration at not being allowed to take chase. Minnie of course just had to copy 🤣

After 5 minutes of trying to convince the girls that their walk will not be spoilt just because we allowed the cat to live, we finally made it to the other side of the village.

Once over their disappointment of another cat still breathing, they picked up their spat out dummies and carried on 🤣

We finished our walk with all paws on the ground and the devil horns were put to sleep for another day.

I think I’m right in what I’ve been saying, Minnie definitely loves to show off to her friends. Today was a complete 180 to yesterday’s walk 😆

Sometimes change is a good thing, and so we’ve decided to rebrand to something a little more fun.

We will be changing the page name to ‘Top Dog - Dog Walking & Pet Care’

All services etc will remain the same, we just fancied trying something different. 😊

What a lovely walk with Minnie today 🥰

Had a lovely relaxed wander around Locke Park and we bumped into Spike again, the Saluki Lurcher. He’s a nervous lad, around other dogs and strangers, but today he was feeling super brave.

Minnie has met him several times, at a distance, but today we stood much closer than we ever have. Not even 6ft away!

We stood and chatted, and every now and then I’d throw a little treat to Spike. Minnie got one too as long as she was sat calmly.

I didn’t make a big fuss of Spike, just a simple ‘hello Spike’ whenever he looked at me.

Minnie was great, and sensed he was wary, so she stayed calm and carried on sniffing around us without imposing herself on Spike.

After so long, he was stood only a foot away from Minnie. Minnie watched him and it was clear that she was keen for him to come closer, but Spike felt he was close enough.

Minnie moved away and sniffed amongst the grass. And then, Spike followed me!

Minnie was oblivious, but Spike stretched forward and sniffed my hand. That’s a massive step for him! Minnie turned briefly and saw him close to me but she wasn’t jealous and stayed back to give Spike room.

Minnie was so good today, helping Spike feel brave and making sure he didn’t feel overwhelmed by her. Dogs really do understand how others are feeling.

We continued with our walk, even passing the tennis courts with no reacting to the ball flying around.

We approached the picnic area, where dogs have to be on leash, just like the rest of the park, but the dogs inside were off leash.

I was ready for a reaction from Minnie, but she was calm. That was until the off lead dog came flying at the fence, barking and going crazy at Minnie. So, she answered back like most dogs would.

We kept walking, best we could with a Greyhound flying like a kite at the end of a leash, and we were almost home safe until the dog did the same again!

I stayed calm, and quietly talked to Minnie to encourage her to settle. She did. It wasn’t her fault. It was the fault of the other dogs owners for not abiding by park rules.

We approached the bridge to go back to the car, then we turned to see Spike behind us. He and Minnie stood just feet apart, while we said our goodbyes, with no negative reactions whatsoever.

In fact Spike backed off from two small dogs but never flinched with Minnie.

Give it time and Minnie will be having walks round the park with a new friend.

Well done Minnie. And well done to Spike too.

What was going on in Minnie’s mind today I’ll never know! 🤣

Her nice walking went right out the window for the first half of her walk. Pulling, being silly and ignoring me 🙄 I’m guessing she was being silly because her friend was there again.

She did settle once we’d visited the shop to buy her some more sprats though. Which gave my arms a rest 😆

She turned into a squirrel at one point and even tried to run up a tree!

Despite her antics, we still had a nice walk and Gypsy loved seeing her walking buddy 🥰

‘Talk to the paw cos the face ain’t listening’ 🤣🤣

It’s almost a week since I’ve seen Loons and boy did she let me know of her disapproval! 🤦‍♀️

I got the usual waggy butt when I arrived, but then as soon as she’d had her treat the ‘stuff you’ glares started and the dramatic diva demands for belly rubs and paw holding came every few seconds🤣

She’s currently laid next to me, staring at the wall, and huffing under her breath!
I have an idea of what she’s secretly trying to say to me so I’m so grateful that she can’t actually talk 😆

I’m sure she’ll be my best mate again before I go home….I hope 🤞🤞🐾😝

A gentle walk in the shade of the trees at Locke Park today for Minnie & Gypsy.

Then park is cooler than the woods believe it or not, and there was a nice breeze too.

We had regular stops to let the girls rest and avoided sunny spots as much as possible.

We stopped off at Whelptails Raw & More (I’ve stolen your photos, hope you don’t mind 🤣)
so the girls could have a paddle in the pool. They loved it!

Minnie had a couple of silly moments today. One over a tree branch that she decided had to be destroyed, and we had to battle with her to get her away from it, and another over a toddler playing with a ball in the picnic area. But that’s Minnie. She just likes to show off, especially when Gypsy is with her.

A nice cool drink and a treat when back at the car before heading home with the air-con on full.
