Please stop giving dogs medication to try and fix behavioural issues in dogs. I’ve had a couple over the last couple of weeks. One person was being charged £400 a session over the phone appointments, through a well know company, who likes to portray himself as a dog expert who’s a vet, they fixed nothing, they didn’t even see the dog then convinced the owner he was in pain, more money for scans, bloods you name it and medication, all because it was through the insurance, makes you wonder doesn’t it 🤔. Another customer told her dog needed medication to fix his behaviour, guess what it didn’t work and I see people arguing over dog training a certain group who say that this doesn’t happen, yes it does. You can’t fix behavioural issues over a phone call, you need to see the dog, see the owner, see the situation, see what’s going on, timing, are they doing it right, show people and prove you can do it with other dogs not just own dog running to the end of a lead for a biscuit you’ve thrown and then calling it back saying you are teaching lead pressure, put up some proper videos of showing a reactive dog then the results of walking through places and past dogs, people and not batting an eyelid, instead of talking a good job. People with more titles than they’ve actually fixed dogs, quoting theory etc there’s an old saying in martial arts “everyone has a plan until you get a smack in the face” and that goes for the other end of the scale of dog trainers too. Is it any wonder insurance for dogs is so expensive when you’ve got people being sent to see labels like clinical behaviourists charging a £1000, they don’t even get hold of the dog to show you, all I’m saying is at least Dick Turpin wore a mask.

So I get an enquiry asking if I could help this 2 year old frenchie cross. The lady had rescued from a bit of a puppy farm breeder, saying the dog was nervous, scared to go outside, scared of dogs, roads, people even going on the grass and holding going the toilet. Growling at people coming into the house, even at me when I came in, But 5 minutes with her uncle Lee and well the little video speaks for itself. The last clip I got sent a few hours after I left her with some homework to do of happily walking down the road. This is real results as I’m sure the owner will tell you too. Yes they have to keep it up and keep progressing, if the dog trainer can’t prove it to you then stay away from them there’s a lot of snake oil salesmen out there. Oh and slip leads don’t mean you’re training with fear or aversive’s and you’ll ruin your relationship blah blah, always look at people with real results with different dogs with different issues, not the odd picture, quotes, videos of their own dogs in an empty space doing daft things, or others that make up titles and self proclaimed masters and academics. No daft games just knowing dog psychology. She’s actually a very lovely dog with a great temperament and good potential to be nice family dog.

Get in touch if you need real help with your dog. Just honest and real life dog training, which is what everyone needs.

Have you heard this before somewhere 😏. If you can’t calm your dog in the house or before you go out you won’t do it outside either. This is the start point of everything not over arousal as this creates an erratic dog that often gets stressed and can’t cope, it often leads to anxiety too. Such a simple thing to do but the over emotional human has a lot to answer for, it’s not love, start thinking about your dogs state of mind more a continued barrage of stimulation and human emotions is not good for your dog

Definitely the right decision. That’s how hot it is at the training centre.

CANCELLED!!!!

Sorry everyone, but with the high temperatures tomorrow and with the temperatures looking to reach 31 degrees, I think it’s in the dog’s interest that we cancel the pack walk. I don’t want to take any risks with the dogs and although it might be ok around 10am, 12pm is getting too hot for a pack walk. So now you can get them out handy and let them chill.

Just seen this in someone’s post now they are trying to rewrite what the 4 quadrants actually mean to back up why you should only use positive reinforcement. You can’t change the principles. Can you spot what it is. Because if you can’t and you don’t know this is what the information they are giving out now and have you believe, at least tell the truth and stop twisting things, even if you want to use positive only to try and fix anything, these people are now trying to rewrite psychology. I’m all for people having their opinions and arguments over things but don’t make stuff or twist it. If you believe in something and that one way works for everything then prove it by demonstrating it with any dog with any behavioural issue in any environment.

Our first pack walk of 2026 is next Monday Bank Holiday. We are going to meet at Otterspool Promenade Adventure Cafe, you can’t miss it, for 10-10:15 and on our way for 10:30, have a walk along the front then back to the cafe for a coffee afterwards. You are welcome to bring the family. Please let me know if you are coming, just so I’ve got a rough idea how many, but it’s not necessary, you can still join us last minute.

Remember our pack walks are free not like most dog trainers who want to make more money out of you. They are for people who come to us or have been to us. Come along even if you feel a bit nervous it’s a great walk to start on and you’ll all be made to feel welcome.

Help me out guys Shall I or shan’t I. I said I wouldn’t but I’ve got to say she seems like she could be a little cracker. 6 month old pup. She’s Not seen much and not done anything, I’ve had her not even 48hrs, but she’s taking everything in her stride. These are all first sessions with me. These dogs are not pets and why loads are getting rehomed or ruined. Stop buying Malinois or Dutch herders.

What do you think guys shall I keep her and you’ll see more of her journey.
