Wishing Norman [belatedly on Facebook*] a very Happy 3rd Birthday 🎉🎂💜 Can't believe this fluffy goof ball is an adult! I'm sure I'll still be saying: "he's friendly, just big and still a puppy who wants to play with everyone" next time I have the pleasure of walking him.

Bloody burrs! 🐾😲 It's that time of year again. 😢
I think I spent more time grooming Arlo than walking him yesterday. His fur is like Velcro. Mark reckons there are 50 burrs here. From a quick nip to the swings first thing. But he was a very good boy letting me spray, brush and comb them out. 🪮 Cheese helped 🧀😂. Cheese always helps 💜
These were replaced by sticky buds on his afternoon walk. 🤦

Happy Great Dane Day (June 12)! A time to celebrate and revere these majestic hounds (a breed that actually comes from Germany).
When I set up my little dog walking business (trading as DG Walkies), I'd never have imagined that I'd be regularly walking these Great Danes when their owners go on holiday. But Ruby taught me that size isn't the issue - it's all about attitude. She's a real gentle giant (unless you're a cat!) It's Belle the Cockapoo you have to worry about!!
Then along came Sunny - by name and by nature. Still a puppy, she just wants to play with every dog, animal and human. But she hasn't yet learned that she's a lot bigger, heavier and stronger than everyone else around! She's quite a handful to say the least.
It's actually thanks to Sunny that DG Walkies became 'Canine Couple' as I needed Mark to be with me to walk them both plus their sister. Before each walk, we have 'The Talk' - where I get them to stop play fighting each other, focus on me and respect my leadership of the pack; followed by alpha male Mark; then top dog Belle; then Ruby and finally Sunny. Admittedly, the talk only lasts until something more exciting comes along ....!!
As well as treats and toys, they all love Auntie Debs' and Uncle Mark's water - it tasts so much better than anything at home. And it's so cute watching the girls dive in to drink together out of the tiny bowls we always carry with us. They can be so gentle 💜💚

Probably the easiest dog body language to understand is a happy dog! There are some really clear signs you’ll see in your dog showing they are happy:

• A high and waggy tail. This is probably the most well-known sign your dog is a happy pooch

• Floppy ears. By this, we mean that their ears are relaxed, not tense or flattened against their head. Pricked upright ears are a sign of alertness – they tell you if your dog is happy or sad, just focused

• Their body’s relaxed. If your dog seems relaxed in their posture and not tense or stiff, this is a good indication they are feeling good. Loose shoulders, soft eyes without a fixed gaze, and a dose of ‘wiggliness’ or pure ‘flopped-outness’ are all clues that your dog’s feeling super chill

• They’re playful. A happy dog is more likely to want to play and leap around. Play “bows” are a great sign your dog is in the mood

• They lean in to you. A relaxed dog who enjoys your company is more likely to also enjoy your attention. They may come to you for attention and it’s a good sign if they lean into your hand when you stroke them
