๐ก๏ธ Heat Wave Alert: Protect Your Dogs This Week ๐พ
With temperatures set to soar next week, I'm reminding all Dog owners to take extra precautions to keep their furry family members safe.
๐ Any dog, regardless of breed, age, or size, can be affected by heat-related illness. Heatstroke can develop quickly and become life-threatening.
To help keep Dogs safe:
โ
Walk dogs early in the morning or later in the evening when it's cooler.
โ
Test the ground with the back of your hand for 5 seconds before heading out.
โ
Provide plenty of fresh water and access to shade.
โ
Never leave Dogs in parked vehicles, even for a short time.
โ
If you have to travel with your Dog for any reason, only do so in a air conditioned car and when possible put the air conditioning in the car on 5-10 mins before your animal goes in the car. Please do not walk your dogs to any appointments you may have this week!
โ
Watch for signs of overheating, including excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse.
โ ๏ธ Remember for dogs : if the pavement is too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws. Concrete, asphalt, and sidewalks can reach dangerously high temperatures and cause painful burns within minutes.
If you suspect your Dog is suffering from heatstroke, seek veterinary attention immediately.
Stay safe, stay cool, and give your Dogs some extra care during this hot weather.
