The part of dog walking I wasn’t prepared for… 💔
Nobody warned me that one of the hardest parts of having a dog-walking and pet-care business would be just how much I would care 🥺
I expected muddy paws, wet coats, barking, poo bags, early mornings and dogs who occasionally decide that the thing I need to do most urgently is absolutely not the thing they want to do 😂
What I didn’t expect was the emotional side of it.
I care about my little clients. A lot.
I worry about them. I think about them when I’m not with them. I lie awake sometimes wondering if they’re okay. I get upset when they’re struggling, anxious or unsettled. And when I know one of them isn’t having the best time, I can’t simply switch off and think, “well, that’s just work.”
Because to me, it isn’t.
These are someone’s beloved family members. And when they’re in my care, I take that responsibility seriously.
Sometimes caring this much is exhausting. Sometimes it means worrying when I probably should be sleeping. And sometimes it means having difficult conversations or making decisions that aren’t easy.
But then…
I get this. ❤️
The ridiculous zoomies.
The sleepy faces.
The first time a nervous dog trusts me enough to come closer.
The tail wags when I arrive.
The muddy adventures.
The quiet walks.
The cuddles that are actually invited.
The goofy faces.
The little moments that nobody else gets to see.
And suddenly I remember exactly why I do it.
I might not have been prepared for how much I would care.
But honestly?
I wouldn’t have it any other way. 🐾❤️
