Exploring Marcham this morning!

We’ve had a couple of lovely success stories recently, so we thought we’d combine them into one update!

Stanley

I’ve been working with Stanley since the beginning of July, and he has made such amazing progress.

Stanley has Addison’s disease, which means he needs a little extra patience and understanding, particularly during stressful situations. Building trust and helping him feel comfortable has therefore been an important part of our sessions.

I’m so pleased with how far he has come. Stanley is now comfortable enough to allow me to stroke him, which is a huge milestone and a lovely reflection of the trust we are building together!

Shaya

Shaya is a rescue who can be very nervous and cautious around people. When we first started spending time together, our sessions were simply about being around each other and allowing her to become comfortable in my presence, with no pressure or expectations.

During our last session before the sitting I’m currently doing with her, I introduced play as another way for us to interact. I let Shaya know that it was something we could do together if and when she wanted to.

Fast forward to now, and we’re playing every evening! Of course, it’s always on Shaya’s terms and initiated by her, which makes it even more special.

She has also started choosing to sit on the sofa next to me, whereas previously she would prefer to stay close to her crate. Seeing her become more confident, comfortable and willing to engage has been such a lovely progression.

Both Stanley and Shaya are great examples of why patience, trust and allowing animals to move at their own pace is so important.

Friday morning me and Gus took a trip up to Millets Farm. We did a loop around the big field near the playground & farm animals, came back and explored Webbs a little bit too.

The aim: not for me to have a nice morning out (unfortunately) but for Gus to just sit and observe! Lots of trolleys were being push around, kids and families walking by, vans unloading etc. this is all really good for him to experience and become used to.

Decided to switch things up today. So welcome to a day in the life of Rosie J Pet Care!

Started the day off with Misty - Misty is an 18 year old cat who is extremely friendly, always hungry, and just happy in life! At the moment I am doing two visits a day with Misty, morning and evening while her family are away.

Then moved onto Gus (Golden Retriever) where we did a late morning walk around the woods. At the moment we are working on socialising Gus as sometimes he can be slightly nervous. We met a lovely lady with a very placid dog who let me stroke her dog and show Gus it is OK to say hello, which worked well!

Around midday I saw Boba, who I walk everyday. Boba is quite a character. He is very head strong and enjoys his routines so today I tried to take him on our usual route back to front for some variation and he was having none of it. So we went ahead with our usual walk where Boba managed to sniff out loads of little mice!

Finally, following my last visit with Misty I walked Ted. Ted is my regular and he is the most easy going, relaxed and sweetest dog. Ted takes you for a walk, for as long as Ted fancies and then decides yep OK we are going home now. The weather was on our side today so he decided he wanted to go slightly further today and wee on everything he could.

In between all this - I have been busy meet and greeting a lot of new clients! It is always exciting to welcome more dogs into Rosie J Pet Care so thank you for supporting me :)

Cheers to another fantastic day!

This is Polly! I mean come on… have you ever seen a smaller dog? Polly in my pocket!

After a fantastic week off - I’m straight back into it with Gus!

Tried this one after seeing Aaron’s video! Back to Balance - Canine Behaviourist. Fantastic brain game for dogs on hot days or even any time they need a bit of stimulation. Worked wonders with Gus!

Safe to say I missed all your doggies & im glad to be back at itšŸ˜Ž

I might be biased, but sunny Oxfordshire mornings just hit different. Molly agrees. ā˜€ļø
