Our 2027 diary is now open for block bookings 🤎

If your dog is currently groomed with us on a regular 4–8 week schedule, you can now ask us to plan their appointments for 2027.

We’ll map out their usual grooming schedule across the year, taking your preferred days and times into account wherever we can.

Appointments will then be confirmed three months at a time, so you’ll always know what’s coming up.

If you’d like us to plan your dog’s 2027 appointments, send us a message with your preferred day(s) and time of day and we’ll take it from there. 🤎

A little update about Saturday appointments.

Our Saturday diary has now reached capacity, which means we’re no longer able to take on new customers who need Saturdays as their regular grooming day.

We know Saturdays are essential for some guardians, so we want to protect the appointments we have for our existing customers who already rely on them.

We may occasionally have a Saturday appointment become available due to a cancellation, and we’ll still share these when we do. These will be one-off appointments rather than an ongoing Saturday grooming schedule.

We’re still welcoming new dogs for weekday appointments, so if Monday to Friday works for you, we’d be very happy to hear from you.

Thank you, as always, for keeping us so wonderfully busy and trusting us with your dogs.

Christmas might feel a little way off, but if your dog will need grooming between now and then, now’s a good time to get their routine appointments in the diary.

Keeping to their usual grooming schedule helps keep their coat manageable and their routine familiar, rather than leaving everything until December.

If you need to arrange your dog’s next appointments, just get in touch. 🤎

Every dog is different, and good grooming starts with recognising that.

Getting to know your dog, building familiarity over time and working together with you all shape the way we groom.

Because good grooming is about more than one appointment. It’s a relationship between your dog, you and the people you trust to care for them.

That’s the Hound approach. 🤎

Your dog gets to know us, too.

Grooming is quite a personal experience for a dog, which is why familiarity matters to us.

Amy and Lorraine take time to get to know the individual dog in front of them -what they’re comfortable with, what they might find difficult, and when they may need a little more time.

Because good grooming isn’t only about the finished groom. It’s about building trust, creating familiarity and making thoughtful decisions for the dog along the way.

Sometimes the first part of grooming is simply getting to know each other. 🤍

Every dog who comes through Hound’s door is an individual.

Some settle in quickly. Others need a little more time to look around, get familiar with us and work out what this grooming business is all about.

We take time to understand what they’re comfortable with, what they might find difficult and what their guardian would like help with.

There isn’t one approach that suits every dog and that’s rather the point.

Thoughtful grooming starts with the dog in front of us.

With warmer temperatures forecast next week, we've been keeping a close eye on the weather and reviewing our diary accordingly ☀️🐾

A number o appointments have already been contacted where we feel the conditions may affect their visit.

If you are attending an appointment during the warmer weather, we kindly ask that dogs travel in an air-conditioned vehicle where possible and avoid unnecessary walks before or after their groom.

Whilst our salon is air-conditioned, your dog's welfare will always come first. If temperatures rise beyond what we feel is safe and comfortable, we may need to rearrange appointments at short notice.

We appreciate your understanding as we navigate the warmer weather together.

And as always, if in doubt, don't walk 🤍

Warm weather can become uncomfortable for dogs far sooner than many people realise.

Unlike us, dogs can’t cool themselves efficiently through sweating, and even temperatures that feel pleasant to humans can place real strain on them - especially brachycephalic breeds, older dogs, puppies, overweight dogs, or those with thick coats.

A few things we recommend during warmer days:

• walk early morning or later evening
• avoid prolonged play or exercise in the heat
• always check pavement temperatures first
• provide shaded rest areas and fresh water
• never underestimate humidity - it makes cooling much harder for dogs
• watch for excessive panting, lethargy, drooling, wobbliness, or disorientation

If you’re ever unsure whether it’s too hot to walk your dog, it’s usually safest not to. Missing one walk is far safer than risking heatstroke.

Not every part of grooming looks glamorous…but every part matters.

Nail maintenance is something many dogs quietly struggle with when it’s left too long. Overgrown nails can affect posture, movement, grip and overall comfort.

For some dogs, regular little trims are far easier emotionally than waiting until the nails become uncomfortable.

We always try to keep nail work calm, gentle and low pressure, particularly for dogs who find paw handling difficult.

Young dogs don’t need long appointments to learn good grooming habits.

Short, positive experiences often build confidence far better than waiting until grooming becomes absolutely necessary.

For puppies and adolescent dogs, we focus heavily on:
• handling confidence
• standing comfortably
• bath and dryer introduction
• brushing tolerance
• creating positive associations

The goal is a dog who feels safe and relaxed in the salon for years to come 🤍
