We’ve had a few conversations with people poking their heads through the door recently, looking delightfully baffled and asking: “So… what ARE you, actually?!” 😂

Puppy’s first groom milestone! 🐾✨

We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming 5-month-old Benson for his very first big boy groom! He was an absolute star—gorgeous, calm, and so well-behaved on the table. 😍✂️
..His sister, Juno, came in 5 days later for her first groom, and let's just say she was so excited to be here that she peed on the table! 🙈😂 (Hey, we love a passionate customer!)

Every pup handles their first groom differently, but both were total cuties and left looking, smelling, and feeling fabulous! 🧼❤️

Glamour, high fashion, and the absolute, soul-crushing reality of owning a 5 month old Sheepadoodle. 💅💩

My daughter and I decided to treat Jasper to a bit of high society with a trip to John Lewis. The vision in my head was picture-perfect: a dapper, fluffy young pup strutting gracefully through the aisles, turning heads, and proving to the world that he’s a cultured gentleman.

Jasper had a vastly different vision.

He marched into the beauty hall like he owned the joint, completely unfazed by the glowing counters and the scent of money in the air. He bypassed Tom Ford, gave Jo Malone a dismissive glance, and trotted directly toward the high-rollers: Chanel and Dior.

He stopped. He sniffed the air. And then, right on the polished floor between the Chanel No. 5 and the Dior Sauvage, Jasper dropped into a full, unapologetic squat.

Why buy luxury when you can contribute your own signature scent?

Before I could process the mortification, an impeccably turned-out assistant glided over and announced: "Excuse me... your dog has just relieved himself next to the Eau de Parfum."

While I was down on my hands and knees with a poo bag, Jasper decided his work in high fashion was done. Seeking any kind of refuge, we swiftly legged it toward the children’s department, where we found peak back-to-school shoe queue chaos. Naturally, right in front of a dozen wide-eyed parents and children, Jasper squatted for an encore: a massive victory wee.

A double-header. A complete, multi-story sensory experience.

Jasper gives Chanel a solid 2/10 and thinks the kids' section has great acoustics. We set a new world record for the fastest exit out of a department store.

We are currently laying low in our own dog-friendly shop, where the dog fragrance is rated pretty good, and there is zero judgment for pups who just can’t resist showing off!

� � The Two Sides of a 1-on-1 Sanctuary: Meet Bailey and Molly🐾

Running a private, 1-on-1 salon means every single dog gets a completely tailored experience based on exactly what they need that day. This week, I had two very different, equally special guests who perfectly show why this slow, gentle approach is so important.

✨ The Reluctant Departer: Bailey the Cavapoo ✨
First up was the gorgeous Bailey. He was an absolute dream to groom, and we had the loveliest time together (he brought back so many beautiful memories for me). In fact, we bonded so much that when his owner arrived to collect him, Bailey literally laid down on the floor and refused to leave! There is no higher compliment than a dog who feels so at home they don't want to go! 🏡❤️

✨ The Brave Boundary Setter: Molly the Cocker Spaniel ✨
Next was this beautiful girl. She came to me with a history of being highly nervous during grooming, to the point of trying to bite in the past.

Because we work at the dog's pace, we took things incredibly slow. We made fantastic progress, but towards the very end, she let me know she had reached her limit. Rather than pushing her through those last few snips to get a "perfect" finish—which would have broken her trust and risked a negative experience—we drew a line under the groom at 95% done. She went home happy, safe, and stress-free.

Building trust with a nervous dog is a journey, and showing them that their boundaries are respected is the most important step. We’ll pick up right where we left off next time!
