Another fantastic weekend for Laxtongate Gundogs- although my dogs had a weekend off Laxtongate Forrester kept the results coming for Tracy Gilkes with a CoM on Saturday and 2nd today.
We also had a great walked up session this afternoon with a lovely mix of dogs

Wren has been out 3 times with me this summer and twice with Lola

Leicestershire open test- 2nd after a run off for 1st place (sorry wren)
Kirkbourne Spaniels team challenge weekend- Top dog
Midland counties Labrador retriever club open test- 1st
Dove valley young handlers- 1st (never dropped a point)
KSS Labrador retriever club young handlers- 1st

And to top it all off she is curled up on my bed fast asleep, early night for us both after a challenging day 🥰👑

Last weekend restored my faith that 2026 wasn't all bad! This year has been a tough one and I think a reminder that some things can go well was very welcome.
Firstly a huge thank you to Darren Kirk and his whole team at Kirkborne spaniels- they put on yet another brilliant weekend which I'm sure takes a huge amount of work. The judges were absolutely incredible, so kind and helpful and even let the girls run a couple of tests each day when the main judging was finished. It absolutely made their day and I'm so grateful for the consideration.
Next, to my team. Quite honestly the best team I could have asked for. We took the same team up for a second year running and they really did make the weekend so much fun! Everyone worked together really well and the team spirit even after the dog work was done was just lovely. Ciara Leigh-Anne Cooke, Tracy Gilkes, Bob Seaman I can't wait for next year!
Finally to my dogs- They blew me away! Finch has never seen that amount of people or any type of scurry and he smashed everything I asked of him. Only missing out on the wins by 1 second behind Goose who has much longer legs 🤣
Goose was an absolute superstar, I consistently underestimate this dog and he surprises me time and time again. He won all of his scurries with me which included winning a pair of Brandecosse boots! This was as well as prizes from Pureflax and Dog & Field
Both boys also ran for the kids and mum throughout the weekend and were placed every time which made me even more proud as neither of them have ever been handled by anyone other than me.
Wren- just when I started to question if it was time for Goose to start taking over she showed me that experience and class were something that cannot be replaced. After a very nerve-wracking run off, which she absolutely smashed, we were awarded top dog and handler and a voucher for Brandecosse. She is my comfy pair of slippers and I will be forever grateful to Blazebeck Gundogs that she is in my life.
