🐾 What does a WillowWalks drop-in visit look like?
Well, that depends entirely on who's opening the door! ❤️
🐕 For my elderly gentlemen, it might be a short, gentle walk (or simply a toilet break, depending on their mobility and exercise tolerance), a little treat hunting, some companionship and an unreasonable number of scratches. Particularly b***y scratches. I'm becoming something of a professional b***y scratcher! 😂
🐾 For my more playful clients, it could be a short walk, some lead training, sniffing games, tug-of-war, plenty of cuddles and occasionally some rather ridiculous games together.
🐕 For my energetic troublemakers, it's supervised garden playtime, exercise, enrichment and carefully managed chaos! Sometimes walks are part of the visit too, with dogs taken separately or in suitable groups to keep everyone safe and happy.
❤️ For animals with additional care needs, visits can involve practical care, gentle companionship and plenty of affection, always respecting their individual needs and boundaries.
🐾 And for my more nervous clients, sometimes the most important part of a visit is simply building trust. That might mean sitting quietly nearby, offering treats without expectations, or even singing gentle songs so they can become familiar with my voice. No pressure, no forced interaction. Just patience, kindness and celebrating the little steps along the way.
🐈 And let's not forget the cats! Fresh food and water, clean litter trays, and chin scratches and snuggles for those who enjoy them. For the more reserved feline personalities, I'm perfectly happy to let them decide whether they'd like my company.
No two animals are the same, so no two drop-ins need to be the same.
Some need exercise, some need enrichment, some need practical care, and some simply need a little company and someone willing to scratch their bottom for an extraordinary amount of time.
Whatever their needs, my aim is to make each visit something that works for them. ❤️
