Following the Scent since 1974... Riding with DragHounds is a thrilling sport which SHOULD NOT be confused with Fox Hunting/Trail Hunting.

With DragHounds, a pack of Hounds follow a Scent laid by a human rather than pursuing a live quarry. The Line is laid over a pre-determined route to take advantage of the best opportunities for seeing the hounds work as well as jumping all obstacles offered by the country crossed. Our DragHounds are descended from the Dumfriesshire Line of Hounds and have been bred for over 15 generations to follo

w a Drag Scent. We are are proud members of the Masters of DragHounds and BloodHounds Association (MDBA) and are NOT affiliated in any way with the British Hound Sports Association (BHSA).

🏇 JUST OVER A MONTH TO GO! 🏇

We’re now just over a month away from our Clear Round Cross Country at Kingsclere - and it’s shaping up to be a brilliant day for riders of all abilities!

With four separate courses to choose from, there really is something for everyone, whether you’re looking to introduce a green horse to cross country, build confidence, or simply enjoy a good day out over some fantastic fences.

You can ride individually or as a team of 2–4, making it the perfect opportunity to get a group of friends together and take on the jumps.

And, of course, it’s the ideal chance to get a taste of the epic Kingsclere hedges just one week before our Opening Meet - also at Kingsclere! A great way to get yourselves and your horses feeling fit, confident and ready for the start of the season.

📣 𝗖𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗥 𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗 𝗫𝗖 - 𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘: 𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝟭𝟴𝗧𝗛 𝗢𝗖𝗧𝗢𝗕𝗘𝗥

Unfortunately, the weather hasn’t played ball with us this summer and, with horse and rider safety our priority, we want the ground at Kingsclere to be as good as it possibly can be.

We’ve therefore made the decision to 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗫𝗖 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟯𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟴𝘁𝗵 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿.

This change also means our 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗯𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 - which actually gives everyone the perfect opportunity to come and have a practice over the country beforehand!

On 18th October, you can 𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿, giving you and your horse the perfect chance to build a bit of confidence before Opening Meet the following week - and perhaps work out exactly which of those Kingsclere hedges you’ll be aiming for when the big day arrives… 👀🌿

We hope the extra few weeks will give us the conditions Kingsclere deserves.

🐎 𝐋𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐌𝐁𝐄 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐤𝐬 & 𝐁𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬

We are absolutely delighted to announce that legendary British event rider Lucinda Green XC Community MBE has become the new President of the Berks & Bucks Draghounds, succeeding the late Ian Balding.

A six-time Badminton winner, World and European Champion and Olympic medallist, Lucinda has also been a long-standing friend and supporter of the Berks & Bucks.

Speaking about her appointment, Lucinda said:

“I have been a huge admirer of the Berks & Bucks over many years. The Hunt fills such a gap and provides proper fun.

“I am honoured to be asked to follow in the great Ian’s footsteps as President.”

Victoria Ruffy, Joint Master of the Berks & Bucks Draghounds, said:

“We are absolutely thrilled that Lucinda has agreed to become our President. There could hardly be a more fitting person for the role. She is an extraordinary horsewoman, but just as importantly she understands exactly what makes the Berks & Bucks special – great sport, wonderful horses, friendship and, above all, fun."

“Ian was an enormously important part of the Berks & Bucks and leaves very big shoes to fill. We feel incredibly fortunate to have Lucinda following him as President and look forward to having her very much part of the Hunt for the years ahead.”

Our Clear Round Cross Country is coming up on 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 20𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿, and with some much-needed rain finally in the forecast, the going should be just right! 🌱🙌

Whether you’re looking to build confidence, ride with friends, or have a jump around Kingsclere before opening meet - this event is for you! 🫵

- You can tackle the course on your own or ride in a group of up to 4.
- If you’d like to ride as a group, each rider needs to enter individually and simply add a note to their booking telling us who they’d like to ride with.

🐴 Who's ready for another day at Kingsclere? 🐴

There’s just over one month to go until our Clear Round Cross Country at Kingsclere, and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back for another fantastic day of cross-country fun.

Whether you’re introducing a young horse to cross-country, building confidence, or simply looking for an enjoyable day out, our clear round offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with something for everyone.

As some of our hounds age we would like to find them lovely new countryside homes where they can enjoy retirement with a few years of a slower pace of life. They are used to Kennels so will need some retraining but are friendly and have basic commands installed. Both are un-neutered large dogs, but have large hearts to love you and your family (and treats!!) Both can go on a trial basis to you, if it doesn't work out they can come back to Kennels no problem. Both are healthy with no issues.

Athena 7yrs old is a lovely old girl who is looking for a slower paced life. Rocket at 8years old has been a grand servant and bred us some lovely pups is now looking for a sofa to sprawl on.

Hound pups Gravy, Granule and Gracious have been with our very generous puppy walkers Christine and Robbie for less than 24 hours but are already walking out on leads. Yes team 💪🏻
