🐾🍪 **Straight to the snack bar!** 😂🐶

These two know exactly where to head when they arrive at Arberth Vets… forget the treatment, it’s all about checking out the snack bar first! 🦴🤣

Our reception team knows that the way to some hearts is through their stomachs! ❤️🐾

Who else has a dog that never forgets where the treats are kept? 👀👇

❌ MYTH: "Placing treatments directly inside the joint is an extreme measure only used when a dog has reached end-stage arthritis and oral medications have failed."

✅ FACT: Intra-articular therapies can be introduced far earlier in the disease process, especially when joint discomfort is concentrated in a specific primary joint (like a single elbow or knee).

Waiting until end-stage disease often limits the therapeutic benefit of advanced joint injections. Placing targeted therapy directly into the joint capsule delivers local relief right where the inflammation lives while bypassing the digestive tract, liver, and kidneys.
This makes intra-articular options particularly valuable for dogs sensitive to systemic pharmaceuticals or those experiencing single-joint flare-ups that need direct support before severe muscle wastage occurs.

🐾 **MEET OCKA – OUR RESIDENT PUPPY! 🐾**

You may have spotted a very important little member of the Arberth Vets team causing a stir around the practice… 👀❤️

Meet **Ocka**, one of our staff members’ puppies and our very own **resident puppy!** 🐶💕

Ocka has quickly made herself at home at Arberth Vets and is already an expert at:

🐾 Making everyone stop for cuddles
🐾 Bringing a little chaos to the day
🐾 Putting smiles on everyone’s faces
🐾 Supervising the team (very seriously, of course!)
🐾 And generally being far too cute! 🥹❤️

We think she’s going to be a very important part of the team as she grows up!

**Welcome to Arberth Vets, Ocka! 🐶💙**

# # # 🐾 5 Signs Your Pet May Be Unwell

Our pets can’t tell us when something isn’t right, so it’s important to notice changes in their usual behaviour. ❤️

Keep an eye out for:

1. **🐶 Changes in appetite or drinking** — eating or drinking noticeably more or less than usual.
2. **😴 Unusual tiredness** — being quieter, less active or reluctant to play.
3. **🤢 Vomiting or diarrhoea** — especially if it’s persistent, severe or accompanied by other symptoms.
4. **🩺 Changes in behaviour** — hiding, becoming unusually withdrawn, restless or irritable.
5. **🚽 Changes in toileting** — difficulty urinating, accidents in the house or changes in bowel movements.

Trust your instincts — you know your pet better than anyone. If you’re concerned about a change in your pet’s health, it’s always worth seeking veterinary advice.

Just another day at the Vets, the patients may be furry, but apparently the staff have the real paws-itively fabulous dress code. 😎🌞🐾

❌ MYTH: "If my dog is on daily pain medication for osteoarthritis, it will mask their symptoms and cause them to overexert themselves, leading to more joint damage."

FACT:
Pain management is essential for breaking the cycle of chronic pain and inflammation. When a dog's pain is unmanaged, they tend to move less, leading to muscle wasting (atrophy) and stiffness. Unmanaged pain can also cause central sensitisation- where the nervous system becomes hypersensitive to pain signals over time.

Properly managed pain allows dogs to comfortably engage in controlled, low-impact exercise (like gentle walking or hydrotherapy), which builds supporting muscle tissue and preserves joint mobility. Rather than masking a problem, targeted pain relief helps maintain physical health and improves quality of life.
