The last month has been crazy!
We are not huge on reposting what we have been up to but we have been super busy.
On 5th August I got a call from Kings vets about a young dog that had been 'left' with them. The dog was in a terrible way and showing a lot of aggression to males and they were really stuck with what to do. Charities were full and he was a huge bite risk. Knowing the environment there wouldn't be ideal I went to see him and give him an emergency foster so I could also ascertain if he is fixable.
We went and met some other amazing dog trainers in the area, I have certainly never seen a dog that switches into a frantic defensive drive on sight of a male. We met with Million Dollar Mutt dog training Canine Training Group and Paige Zsigo-Oliver all amazing local trainers that I have the hugest respect for. It was deemed he is fixable but is going to take some very specialist training, a lot of time, patience and understanding.
I tried to find a home for him but most people wanted to get him to force him to work (which he isn't suitable for) or to retrain him and sell him and who knows where he would end up. I had petsit's booked in so I had to find a place for him so off he went to the incredible Malinois and Dutch herder rehabilitation centre to decompress.
In this time I was already bonded with the little lunatic and he has so much potential when he learns nobody is out to hurt him and he doesn't have to go out and fight.
So despite how catastrophic it is for the business this chap now called Harrie has a home with me.
Donna, Gemma and Claire have all met him and have already got a great bond, as you can see he is already making friends.
The reason Ladys K9 was started was for these types dogs, the ones the average dog walker or trainer avoids to take the easy dogs. We are proud that Kings knew that we were the best people to contact for a dog this damaged and yes it will be hard to juggle things but he is safe and learning a happy new world. He will in time become our stooge dog and be on group walks, training walks and be in our training videos.
