I think it's so important that guardians work with trainers who align with them - it's the best way to ensure everyone is happy and successful.

At Darwin Dog Training we focus on ensuring training is fun for both humans and dogs, that we're striving for the goals that actually matter to you (not what I tell you should matter to you) and that no one feels small for struggling at any point. Through it all, there is also always a heavy focus on the welfare of our dogs so they can truly thrive and benefit from the work we do just as much as (if not more than) their humans.

We'd never expect to teach a child all the skills they need to thrive or to overcome a behavioural challenge in a few weeks. We'd never expect ourselves to master a skill in a fortnight or fix our mental health in a handful of 1hr sessions.

So why do we expect this of our dogs?

While human welfare and needs are just as important, they shouldn't come at the expense of our dogs. We can absolutely achieve our goals and enjoy our lives with our dogs, without shortcuts that compromise their wellbeing.
