Finding a forever home isn't just about handing over a lead - it’s a full team effort that starts long before a family meets their new hound 🐾
Here is what goes into prepping every single Greyhound at GREYS before they take that big leap into home life:
🐾 Health Checks: Every hound is spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, given dental care if needed, have their full documentation, and sent off with freshly trimmed nails (and often a bath from our head groomer, one of our child volunteers, Iris!)
🐾 Real-World Confidence: Multi-step testing with children, cats, chickens, small dogs, wheelchairs, mobility scooters, cars, and everyday household noises are all possible at GREYS!
🐾 Tailored Pacing: If a dog needs extra meetings or practice to feel comfortable, they take all the time they need. We love seeing our Greyhounds learn that children and other animals can also be friends!
🐾 No rush or pressure: Finding your perfect hound can take time, which is why we welcome people to make multiple visits to our kennels to meet our available dogs! Bring along your children and other dogs, they can help you choose!
🐾 Home Checks: Every new home is home checked by one of our staff or volunteers to ensure the home is right for the individual dog. We rehome all over England, Wales and Scotland!
🐾 Lifetime Backup: Full support for our families online, in person, or over the phone, plus direct access to our active private owners group. We love receiving updates!
🐾 Starter Package: All of our dogs go home with a leather collar and lead set, a muzzle and a 15kg bag of food to get you started!
It takes an incredible team of staff and volunteers, but seeing our Greyhounds thrive in loving homes makes every single step worth it! ❤️
