I was going to save these for Christmas but I won't see all of you before then so I thought why not hand them out now!

I'm not much of a Christmas person, cards eventually get thrown out and produce waste. Festive backdrops are pretty for photos but the reality of getting a dog to stay still to get said pretty photo is very hard! I could craft some doggy treat bags but there's so many allergies I'd rather not cause any digestive upset.

But after losing not only my own dog but a few of my clients this year alone, I realised that not everyone thinks to ask for a keepsake when their world is falling apart. So I will be giving out these keyrings for each of my clients whether you've been with me since the start or you've just found me. They come in a few colours and I will collect the fur once it has been washed and dried with care to get all colours of their coat.
As my regulars know, I am not much of a business woman. Just a woman lucky enough to pay my bills doing something I love. So I will not be charging for these, these are a complimentary year round gift for all as a thank you for supporting me and because I want to make sure you all have something to remember your fur babies by. Because yes, they may 'just' be a dog, but they are so much more than that 💙

Pretty Purdey was the first to receive hers today 🎀

Saving you hundreds of pounds one grass seed at a time!
One little seed can imbed and work it's way through the skin and get completley lost in a very short amount of time. This can cause horrible infections and need veterinary intervention to locate and remove as the body can't always push them out by itself.

It's so important to check and comb paws as quite often I'll remove a big mat between the toes to find grass seeds hiding just like this! With 4 paws and many toes that's a lot of potential for grass seeds to hide. If thats not enough they can also work their way into eyes, ears, noses and armpits!

Fortunately I was able to remove these before any harm was done🌟

I am fully booked until the 15th July with my next Saturday availability being the 18th July

We may be coming to the end of this heatwave but another can hit us at any point so please book ahead if you have a dog due a groom or will be due in the next coming months!

I am unable to work past about 27 degrees as it becomes too uncomfortable for both me and the dog, so I am heavily restricted to morning appointments only during times like this. I will work my days off to accommodate where possible but the best thing is to book in advance and not chance a last minute appointment.

As always I am ever so greatful that you chose me as your dog groomer, I'm so lucky I get to do this as a job!

Thank you 💙

As always I will do my best to fit you in but please try and book in advance around these dates as I do not take my work phone away with me and will be unreachable!

Let's talk ticks!
Unfortunately it is that time of year that the vampire bugs unleash their wrath on our best friends, which just isn't very nice of them😤

Both ticks and skin tags can be light or dark in colour. Skin tags can also have a firm attachment or be attached by a small amount of skin which makes it quite difficult to know the difference. Fortunately I have got some up close and personal photos to help you spot the difference!

Ticks have one point of contact which is their mouth. They bury their head under the skin and have lots of tiny legs sticking out. As you can see in my photos you can usually see the black base of their head and legs sticking out on one side.

To remove a tick I personally prefer to use a tick twister that hooks between the body and skin and twist until the tick unlatches. You do not need to pull! I have tried to pull ticks off my own dogs with tweezers but those tiny mouths have some grip and I had no luck, I'd squish them and leave the head in which we don't want! What you do with the tick is up to you, I advise killing it rather than flushing down into our waterways. Death by fire is fitting but a rock will also do😂

If you ever struggle identifying or removing a tick please do reach out to me and I will help you identify or remove it free of charge if you can get to me. Do not worry though as they do fall off once they're full... In my experience I had one the size of a grape fall into my hand😷

You can deter ticks from biting but you can never truly prevent them. Anti parasite medication from the vets is the best but they do not stop a bite! The medication stays in the dogs system for 1-3 months (medication dependent) and once a flea or tick bites it is then poisoned by the treatment and falls off/dies.

Owners like to deter them using items such as Billy No Mates, apple c***r vinegar spray down before a walk (50/50 dilution with water), or medicated collars.

Please note that I will try and help where possible but I am not a veterinary professional so please research any methods of prevention or treatment before using and if it doubt always go to a vet!

Stressful first groom? Not here!
This was Allies first big girl groom and understandably she was unsure at first but as you can see she was so brave and unbothered by the end!
She's gone from not liking her nails done at all to using me as a head rest whilst having them done👑

Dog groomer or crazy dog lady? Must be both!

This is Merlin. Merlin is big and heavy. Merlin does NOT like the table. If Merlin wants to sit, he is sat. If Merlin wants to walk out the salon and sit on the grass, he's gone.

What does this mean for grooming? It means for 3.5 hours I had to follow him around brushing his compacted coat out and shaving out what couldn't be brushed out.
Why? (my lower back screamed) because that's what had to be done and I'm the one crazy enough to bend over, sit, kneel, stand, go upside down and round about to get the job done!🤪

Even with slobber up my face!

Next week he's back for his bath, wish us luck! 😂

The sun is out and the temperature is finally rising, summer is on the way!

Please get into the habit of checking the weather forecast so you can wake up nice and early to take your dogs out. Please check the chart and work out the cut off point for walking your dog.
Remember a dog never died from a missed walk BUT they never get enough time on this planet as it is and it's not fair to lock them up inside all day. So set that alarm and get up at 5am if you really have to, your dog will love you for it!

Help your dog regulate their body temperature by ensuring they are matt free and free of dead/loose coat! Otherwise all that dead/matted coat literally works as a coat and causes them to overheat much faster.

Always ensure fresh water and shade is available. If you're at the beach do not allow them to drink sea water and be mindful of sand compaction!

If you want to have fun whilst staying cool I highly recommend a paddling pool! But I take no responsibility if they get soaking wet and shake off next to you! 😂
