What you feed your dog, matters. 🥩🥚🫐
As a dog trainer, I believe nutrition plays a huge role in supporting our dogs’ overall health, energy, recovery and quality of life. Training isn’t just about what happens during our sessions; it’s also about what we put into our dogs’ bodies every day. 💪🐕
Here’s a look at what goes into my dogs’ bowls and why I include these ingredients. 👇
🥩 RAW MEAT | High-quality protein
Raw meat provides protein and essential amino acids that support muscle development, tissue repair and overall body maintenance. For active dogs, adequate protein is particularly important for maintaining healthy muscles and supporting recovery.
🐟 FROZEN SPRATS | Omega-3 goodness
Sprats are small, oily fish packed with omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA), which can support healthy skin, a shiny coat and normal joint function. They also provide protein and other valuable nutrients.
🥣 NATURAL YOGHURT
Plain, unsweetened natural yoghurt can provide protein, calcium and live cultures, depending on the product. Some dogs tolerate it well, and its live cultures may support digestive health.
Remember, not every dog tolerates dairy.
🥚 EGG | Nutritional powerhouse
Eggs provide high-quality protein, essential amino acids, fats and a range of vitamins and minerals. They can be a useful addition to a dog’s diet when fed in appropriate quantities.
🦴 JOINT POWDER | Supporting mobility
A quality joint supplement may help support normal joint health and mobility, depending on its ingredients. Some formulations contain ingredients such as glucosamine, chondroitin or other compounds intended to support joint function.
The benefits depend on the specific product and dosage, so choose a supplement suited to your dog’s individual needs and speak to your vet if your dog has joint problems.
🫐 BLUEBERRIES | Antioxidant-rich treat
Blueberries contain antioxidants, fibre and vitamins. They can be a tasty, low-calorie addition to many dogs’ diets when offered in moderation.
A little variety can be a great way to add extra nutrients without overloading the bowl with unnecessary extras. 🫐
❤️ THE BIGGER PICTURE
Good nutrition isn’t about throwing every possible ingredient into a bowl. It’s about providing a complete and balanced diet, tailored to your dog’s age, size, activity level and individual needs.
These ingredients can be used as additions to a suitable diet, but raw meat, fish, yoghurt, eggs and supplements don’t automatically provide everything a dog needs nutritionally. If you’re feeding a homemade or raw diet as your dog’s main food, it’s important to ensure it is properly balanced with veterinary nutritional guidance.
A healthy dog is supported by the combination of good nutrition, appropriate exercise, training, rest and regular veterinary care. 🐕💚
Feed with purpose. Train with patience. Build a healthier life together. 🐾
