After Pony club Louise specialised more in eventing, producing young horses and having success at Junior level with Gerfuffle, her family’s winning racehorse. Reaching both the JRN championships, and the Junior National Championships. At senior level the first notable successes were with winning the Welsh Championships in 2003 and then going on to secure the title in 2008, 2013 and 2019. The first really big victory was winning the Blair Castle CCI*** three day event in 2005 with homebred Partly Pickled (the son of Gerfuffle). Louise competed in her first CCI**** at Burghley in 2006 with a double clear on Bit of a Barney, another homebred and home produced horse (another son of Gerfuffle). Louise won the Laurence Rook trophy at Badminton 2007 for the best British first timer, also on the homebred, Partly Pickled (who is a full-brother to Bit of a Barney). In 2014 Louise was placed 12th at Burghley with Mr Potts, the nephew of the full brothers. Also in 2014 she had a 13th placing with Whitson at Pau 4* in France. In 2016 Louise had an 8th placing at Luhmuhlen in Germany with Whitson. Louise received an Armada dish in 2017 for five completions of Badminton. Louise has gone on to complete 22 five star events on various different horses. Other big wins include the advanced section at the Festival of British Eventing at Gatcombe with Bit of a Barney in 2010, various advanced wins with Whitson, and a win at Wellington advanced with Bit of a Barney before he retired. In 2014 Louise had a really successful season with Whitson, a horse she produced up the levels herself and was short listed for the World Equestrian Games in France. In 2014 Whitson was British Eventing’s top horse in the rankings. Louise currently has three advanced horses competing, Mr Potts, Balladeer Miller Man and Trevillick. There are lots of other top class horses in the yard that Louise is producing up the levels, some of them are for sale. Louise enjoys raising money for charity, having run the London marathon in 2000 following a serious RTA and raising £4000 for The Air Ambulance and £1000 for Spinal Research. In the last couple of years Louise has had two charity flat race rides. Finishing 3rd at Newbury raising funds for the British Horse Society and winning a race at Hereford on St Gallen to help raise £30,000 for St.Michael’s hospice. In 2020 Louise and a group of Eventing friends cycled 150 miles in two days from Badminton to Burghley to raise nearly £20,000 for The Midlands Air ambulance. Louise is a trained coach, holding her BHSII, working towards her BHSI. She teaches private clients and groups of all levels and abilities.
