🚨 DID YOU KNOW? In Switzerland, keeping just ONE guinea pig can be a problem? 🐹🇨🇭

It sounds strange, but there’s a reason behind it!

Guinea pigs are highly social animals. They naturally live in groups and can become lonely when kept alone. Because of this, Swiss animal-welfare rules recognize their need for social contact and require their welfare to be protected accordingly.

So, in Switzerland, guinea pigs are generally expected to have companionship of their own kind rather than being kept alone. 🐹🐹

And here’s the interesting part: because guinea pigs are social, simply giving one a human companion isn’t considered the same as providing another guinea pig.

This unusual rule reflects a bigger idea: pet ownership isn’t only about providing food and shelter—it’s also about understanding an animal’s natural social and emotional needs. ❤️

Sometimes, the smallest animals have some of the biggest welfare needs!

We've welcomed a herd of 5 today four sows and a neutered boar all have been well cared for and loved as you can see they are all big and chunky..

I will be taking ownership of the two rabbits as I was the one that rehomed them 3 years ago as babies.. To see them running loose last week made me so angry but I kept my cool hoping the owner would contact me to explain
however they haven't and to be honest no matter what they'd of said I'd made my mind up on that day they were not getting them back..
I put posts out on Facebook knowing there owner follows our page and is on other Mablethorpe groups..
It's obvious they don't give a toss about the rabbits and had they of asked I would of taken them back straight away..

So I picked up 2 loose rabbits in Mablethorpe last week..
I know who they belong to..
My question is do I contact them❓️
There is more to this but I can't get into it yet..
