Both dogs immediately whip around and head back for reinforcement the moment they hear the marker. No hesitation, no confusion—just a clear understanding that reinforcement is available.

A strong terminal marker creates clarity, motivation, and engagement. If your marker isn't getting this kind of response, it may be time to spend more time building value in it.

Two of these recalls are using an e-collar, and I feel strongly about the benefits when they’re used fairly and correctly. E-collars can provide clarity, consistency, and communication at a distance, helping reduce conflict and confusion for the dog.

Whether a dog is friendly, nervous, reactive, or neutral — training tools should be chosen based on the individual dog and used responsibly to create reliability and freedom.
