A bit slow adding to the Facebook at the moment , but spring is coming !! Slowly but surely so make sure your paddocks are clear from droppings to give your grass the best chance of good growth and also protecting your horses from a high worm burden , don’t forget we offer a poo picking service for £5 per wheelbarrow if you don’t fancy the job yourself ☺️

Poo picking your fields is so important to help prevent a bad worm burden in your horse. All horses are born with a worm burden, and it is important to carry out worm egg counts and worm with the appropriate wormer for the results and time of year . Pictured here are the worms found after a foal recieved her very 1st worming despite having a low worm egg count.

She was wormed with equest pramox at 8 months old. Which was suitable for her “low burden” from the worm egg count and being her first wormer appropriate for the time of year and her age !

The following pictures are :
- small red worm
- small red worm and an ascarid (roundworm)
- pinworm
- bot larvae

The foal is doing well and apart from a worm belly (pot belly) she showed no other sign of a large burden , and had a low egg count. She will be being wormed again on 27th april using strongid P.
