Cancer rates have been rising in dogs - for a variety of reasons - not the ones that it’s commonly blamed on.

Every dog owner should be super paranoid about grass seeds/foxtails.

This summer has been so dry and hot, I feel like I am seeing more grass seed foreign bodies than ever before - at least one a day.

Especially if your dog has very furry feet - be checking them after every single walk, and be thorough, depending on coat colour they can easily blend in.

Breed bans do have issues - but never has there been a clear example of where selective breeding causes direct harm.

There is no way to breed a Scottish fold without osteochondrodysplasia.

Scottish folds ARE osteochondrodysplasia.
They are defined by it. It’s painful and it’s cruel. And my heart sinks every time a Scottish fold kitten is brought into my clinic.

I firmly believe their breeding should be illegal.

As a vet, I’ve cared for many greyhounds - they are such sweet-natured dogs. And they deserve better.

The physical toll, high injury rates, and welfare issues tied to commercial greyhound racing mean it’s time for England to join Scotland and Wales in phasing it out.
