Not all elderly dogs get cataracts - but why do so many of the develop a bluish haze to their eyes as they get older?

**cloudy eyes can have a variety of causes, always get a cloudy eye checked by a vet, especially if it comes on suddenly, vision is affected or the eye is painful/your pet is squinting

4 Things a Vet Would like you to know this World Vet Day to keep your pet healthy and save on unnecessary vet costs.

As an ambassador for Blue Cross, I’m supporting their work to raise awareness of the hidden challenges many pets and their owners are facing. With rising costs, more people are struggling than you might realise, so here’s a few suggestions for how you could potentially avoid some of those surprise vet bills.

Please note: This is general advice and isn’t specific to any pet, breed, or problem. You should always speak to your vet about their affordable options.

A first of its kind study finds that doodle crossbreeds are more likely to display problem behaviours than their purebred parent breeds.

I.e. the study compared cavapoos to their parent breeds of cavaliers and poodles.

There’s more layers to this story than the headline suggests however…

I’m very excited to announce that I will be hosting a new podcast: The Dog’s Voice brought to you by !

Welcoming a new dog into your family should be an exciting time - but it can be an absolute minefield.

We will tackling questions such as:
If you’re getting a puppy, how can you ensure you are getting a healthy one?
How can you spot that puppies being advertised are actually from a puppy farm?
Why has Norway banned the breeding of Cavalier King Charles spaniels?
How can we breed healthier dogs moving forwards?

Mixing practical advice and tips, with some general entertaining dog chat, it’s set to be a great listen!

Each episode I’ll have a new expert guest join me, and the first guest will be OG social media vet . As we are both GP small animal vets, we will be sharing our own experiences and tips from having met thousands of new puppies and their families, and exchanging our opinions of how social media impacts what we see in practice.

I need your help! What questions would you like me to ask Cat for the first episode?

The humanisation of pets is going too far.

Walking a rabbit on a lead in a public place is never appropriate, and illustrates a fundamental misunderstanding of the needs of a rabbit.

The way to show your rabbit love and respect is not doing this
