Let’s talk about the "Red Bow" fantasy. 🎀
We’ve all seen the commercials. It’s snowy. The tree is glowing. A box shakes slightly. Out pops a Golden Retriever puppy with a big red ribbon. Everyone cries happy tears. It’s pure magic.
But since it is December 11th, we need to have an honest conversation about what happens after the camera cuts.
I want you to visualize Christmas morning. Not the commercial version, but the real one. The floor is covered in wrapping paper. The kids are screaming with excitement. Grandma is trying to check the turkey in the oven. The noise level is at a 10/10.
Now, add a confused, terrified 8-week-old baby animal to that mix.
While you are trying to host dinner, that puppy needs to p*e every 30 minutes. While you are opening gifts, that puppy is chewing on a dangerous electric cord behind the tree. While everyone is laughing, the puppy is overwhelmed by the chaos, the strange smells, and the loud noises.
The "Best Gift Ever" quickly turns into "Can someone please watch the dog?!"
I am not saying don't get the dog. I am saying: rethink the timing.
A dog is a 15-year promise, not a prop for a Christmas morning photo. The most magical gift you can give a pet is a calm introduction to their new home.
Maybe the gift under the tree isn't the puppy itself. Maybe it’s a collar, a bowl, and a picture of the puppy you will go pick up together on January 5th, when the house is quiet and you have the time to bond.
Where do you stand on this? Is the "Christmas Morning Magic" worth the chaos, or do you believe in the "Quiet January Arrival"?
I have a feeling this community is going to be divided on this one. Let me know your honest thoughts below. 👇
