Maggie & Ted feeling on top form in the BE100 at Aston yesterday 🤩
Both were very excited to be back in their DR tests, with Teddy turning the spook-o-metre to full throttle 🙈 and Maggie showing off her elementary moves 🤣 Despite this, we were still in the hunt after dressage with Maggie on 31 & Ted on 32.5!
I thought the SJ looked small for a 100, but was super technical so it was causing enough trouble but both ponies jumped two lovely clears 👏
We had super tight times so I took Ted XC first. He felt SO confident from the start and has really learnt his trade over the past few months 🥰 The course was tougher than I’d expect from Aston, with questions we’ve seen on novice tracks this season, so I was over the moon with how confident he felt.
We had a stop at 6 which was 100% my fault. The course was still strung for the novice when I walked it first thing, so I didn’t know exactly how 5–6 would be laid out. After 5 I realised the string was still up, then spotted it had been taken down halfway, but by then I’d broken our rhythm to double back on ourselves and go around it at the other end meaning I lost some focus and connection which is so important for Teddy. Ted ran sideways a few strides out due to this but he jumped it second time and then absolutely flew the rest of the course! 💪 More valuable education miles in the bank for him 🥰
Maggie benefited from my upgraded satnav and absolutely FLEW around (literally, she was jumping huge) and we finished inside the time for 5th in a section full of pros 🤩
I’m so lucky to ride such amazing ponies and pinch myself every time i think about it! 🥹
As always huge thank you to my sponsors for the support. Particular shout out to Eco Voltz Electric Bikes for this one, theres no chance we could have managed the quick turnarounds without the bike!
