We’re so pleased to see Piccinni thriving in his loving home! 💙

Over the past three years, our Community Cat Care Project on Paros and Antiparos, supported by a grant from Battersea, has made a huge difference to thousands of cats through neutering, vaccination, microchipping and essential medical care.

Although the project has now come to an end, we’re exploring opportunities to continue this vital work and seeking support and donations to help make this possible.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made the programme such a success, including our dedicated team, project assistants and the local animal welfare groups who work tirelessly to improve the lives of cats in their communities.

We’re incredibly proud of what has been achieved together and hope to build on this success in the future. 🐈💙

Piccinni was found abandoned and alone on the island of Paros. 💔

As he had been separated from his mother too soon, Piccinni needed to be bottle fed. He was also suffering from gastrointestinal issues that needed to be treated with antibiotics.

Thankfully, Animal Action Greece's community cat care project, supported by a Battersea grant, was there for him. Project assistant Martina bottle fed Piccinni, and he got the antibiotics he needed.

After a few weeks, Piccinni grew strong and healthy. Then, his good luck continued when a local couple saw him on social media and reached out to offer him a forever home! Piccinni is now thriving in his loving home. 💙

The Battersea grant covered medical treatment for free roaming cats, as well as neutering and vaccination. The project has been a huge success since beginning in 2023 and is the largest cat population management project of its kind.

During Joe's last 48 hours in Greece, alongside our Programme & Partnerships Manager for Companion Animals, Flora Tsilaga, they have met with dedicated local animal welfare teams, vets and municipal leaders working towards a better future for Greece’s animals.

From seeing the incredible care provided by Syros Cats to discussing our shared ambition of reaching a 90% cat sterilisation rate with Cats of Antiparos, the visits highlighted the importance of collaboration, education and community-led change.

With the support of our amazing local partners, we’re working towards healthier, safer lives for Greece’s animals, watch this space for more to come! 💙🇬🇷

Our CEO, Joe Bailey, has been back in Greece this week, meeting with the incredible people and organisations working to improve the lives of animals across the island of Paros.

Together with our Programme & Partnerships Manager for Companion Animals, Flora Tsilaga, Joe has been meeting with the Municipality of Paros, PAWS - Paros Animal Welfare Society, Paroscat, Cats of Paros and Κτηνιατρείο ΦΕΠ- Ολοκλήρωση Λειτουργίας, discussing how we can continue and strengthen our work around sterilisation, vaccination, microchipping and community education.

There is so much fantastic work happening on the island, but there is still a huge amount to do. Sustainable funding, local collaboration and community involvement are essential if we are to create lasting change.

We’re proud to be working alongside these local heroes 💙

You may have noticed our branding is changing a little!

After many years, we’ve decided to say goodbye to the pink. 💗

But our colours are still unmistakably inspired by Greece: blue, terracotta and olive, with a splash of sunny yellow. They reflect the landscape and character of the country at the heart of our work, while giving Animal Action Greece a fresh new look.

It’s a little change, but one we’re really excited about. Let us know what you think!

A little survivor of the wildfires 🐷

During the devastating wildfires in the Megara area of Greece this year, two young piglets were rescued by ΑΝΙΜΑ - Σύλλογος Προστασίας και Περίθαλψης Άγριας Ζωής and brought to Dogs' Voice, who provided them with a safe place until they could travel to Arcadia Animal Care, GR/Πολιτιστικός Φιλοζωικός Σύλλογος Τρίπολης.

Sadly, one of the piglets did not survive, a heartbreaking reminder of the challenges faced by animals caught up in emergencies like these.

But the surviving piglet is now safe at Arcadia Animal Care, where they are receiving ongoing care and will spend the rest of their days safe, loved and well looked after. ❤️

At Animal Action Greece, we are proud to have supported their ongoing care. Thanks to those who donated to our wildfire appeal, we were able to provide funding and support to the organisations responding on the ground and helping animals in need.

This little piglet’s story is a reminder of what can be achieved when animal welfare organisations come together in times of crisis.

Thank you to ANIMA, Dogs’ Voice and Arcadia Animal Care for helping give this piglet a second chance, and to everyone who supported our appeal and made this help possible. ❤️

Sometimes, what an animal needs most is love 💙

When our CEO Joe recently visited Arcadia Animal Care, GR/Πολιτιστικός Φιλοζωικός Σύλλογος Τρίπολης in Greece, one particular dog caught her attention.

He was so desperate for a little affection that he would jump up onto the fence and hang there, just waiting for someone to stop and give him some love. 😍

Of course, all animals need food, vet care, shelter and protection. These things are vital to the work we do.

But sometimes, in the midst of all that practical care, it’s easy to forget something just as important: they want to feel loved, too.

Through our outreach work across Greece, we meet animals who may have had difficult starts in life, but time and time again, we see that they still seek out human connection. They want a gentle touch. A kind voice. Someone to sit beside them. Someone to notice them.

Because underneath everything, they’re not different from us.

They just want to be safe. They want to be cared for. And they want to be loved. ❤️
