🐾💅 Meet Bali! 🤍

Bali popped in for a little nail clip and, of course, some extra cuddles with Nurse Becca! 🥹🐱 Because no vet visit is complete without a little TLC. 💕

✂️ Did you know how important regular nail trims are for your cat?

🐾 Check the claws: Gently press your cat’s paw to extend each claw and check whether they’re getting too long.

🐾 Trim little by little: Using cat-specific nail clippers, carefully snip just the sharp, curved tip of the nail.

🐾 Avoid the quick: The pink area inside the nail contains blood vessels and nerves, so cutting into it can cause pain and bleeding. For dark nails, trim only a tiny amount at a time.

🐾 Keep it stress-free: Choose a calm moment, offer treats and cuddles, and take breaks if your cat becomes uncomfortable. You don’t have to trim every claw in one sitting!

🐾 Know when to ask for help: If you’re unsure, your cat is very wriggly, or their nails are overgrown, your veterinary team can help show you how to trim them safely.

Regular nail checks help prevent claws from becoming overgrown, snagging on fabrics or, in severe cases, growing into the paw pads. 🐾

A big cuddle-filled thank you to Bali for being such a cutie! 🤍

🦎💚 Meet Kiko! 💚🦎

Our lovely bearded dragon Kiko came in to see us for a recheck, as we’ve been having some concerns about entering brumation (the reptile equivalent of hibernation). 💤☀️

Brumation is a natural seasonal process where bearded dragons become less active, eat less and spend more time resting. However, it’s really important not to assume that these changes are always down to brumation! 🩺

Similar signs can be caused by underlying health issues, including infections, parasites or problems with husbandry. That’s why a veterinary check is so important to rule out illness before attributing changes in behaviour or appetite to a natural seasonal cycle. 🐉💚

Following Kiko’s recheck, we’re referring him to a specialist for further investigation to help get to the bottom of things and make sure he receives the right care. 🏥✨

Sending lots of love to Kiko, and we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for him! 💚

🦷🖤 Meet Oreo, our very own Nurse Mara’s gorgeous kitty! 🐈‍⬛✨

Oreo came in for a dental procedure after Mara noticed something wasn’t quite right with her eating at home. 🥹❤️

As a veterinary nurse, Mara knows just how important it is to spot those little changes in our pets’ behaviour. Changes in eating habits can sometimes be a sign of dental pain or discomfort, so it’s always worth getting them checked! 🩺🦷

Even our team’s own fur babies need a little extra TLC sometimes, and we’re so glad Oreo was in safe hands with her very own vet family! 🐾💕

A little reminder from us: if your pet’s eating habits change, don’t ignore it! Early investigation can help identify dental problems and get your furry friend feeling more comfortable again. 🐱💗

Sending Oreo lots of love and cuddles! 🖤🤍

🐾💕 Happy Friday from Dr Aoifé and a whole lot of kitten cuddles! 🐱🩺

These two little babies have been staying with us in hospital while receiving treatment for pyrexia (a fever) and injuries affecting their leg stumps. ❤️‍🩹

Pyrexia can be a sign of infection or inflammation, so prompt veterinary assessment and treatment are essential, especially in vulnerable kittens. Injuries to their legs also need careful attention to manage pain, prevent infection and support proper healing. 🏥🐾

A huge thank you to Protected Paws Animal Rescue for bringing these precious babies into our care and giving them the chance to receive the treatment and TLC they need. 🥹❤️

We’re sending them all the love, gentle cuddles and healing wishes as they continue their recovery! 💗🐾

🤍🐾 Bella’s spay day & cuddles with Mara! 🐱💗

Our gorgeous girl Bella came in for her spay and, of course, there were plenty of cuddles with Mara to make her feel extra loved! 🥹💕 Nothing like a little TLC to help our patients feel safe and comfortable.

✨ Why is spaying important for female cats?
🐾 Prevents unwanted pregnancies
🐾 Prevents life-threatening womb infections (pyometra)
🐾 Significantly reduces the risk of mammary tumours, especially when performed early
🐾 Helps avoid the stress and behaviours associated with coming into season

Spaying is an important part of keeping our feline friends happy and healthy for years to come! 💗

Lots of love and gentle cuddles for Bella while she recovers. 🩷

🐾 Meet Douglas 🤍🖤

This handsome boy was a blind street cat who was kindly brought into us by Protected Paws Animal Rescue for some much-needed treatment. 🥹❤️

Despite everything he’s been through, Douglas has been such a special boy, and we are so happy to give him the care and comfort he deserves. 🐱✨

👁️ Why are eye checks so important in cats with suspected blindness?

Blindness can have several underlying causes, including eye injuries, infections, glaucoma, cataracts or conditions affecting the retina. Sometimes, changes in vision can also be linked to underlying health problems, such as high blood pressure.

Everyone please wish Douglas strength! 🙏🏼🩷

🐾✨ Meet Elsa! ✨🐾

Elsa came in for her spay and was an absolute superstar from start to finish! 💕 She was the bravest (and cuddliest, GORGEOUS!) girl, giving us plenty of love and cuddles while she recovered. 🥹

Spaying your female cat not only helps prevent unwanted litters, but also eliminates the risk of uterine infections such as pyometra and greatly reduces the risk of certain mammary tumours, as well as preventing seasons and the behaviours that can come with them. 🩷

We’re so proud of you, Elsa — you were such a brave little lady! 🥰🐱💕

🐾 Meet Gizmo! 🐾

Gizmo came to see us after his owner noticed some swelling around his mouth. 🐶❤️ While facial or mouth swelling can sometimes look minor, it’s always important to have it checked by a vet as there can be several underlying causes — from dental disease or infection to an allergic reaction, trauma or something else requiring treatment. 🩺

Gizmo was such a good boy for his examination and gave us the BEST pose with the lovely Dr Aoifé! 🥹🐾 What a handsome little patient! 💙

🐾 Meet Binx! 🖤

Binx came in after his owner noticed a hot spot developing on his back. Hot spots are irritated, inflamed areas of skin that can develop quickly and become very sore, often made worse by licking, scratching or chewing. 🩹

It’s important to get them checked and treated early, as they can worsen quickly and may become infected if left untreated.

Binx was the bestest boy ever for his appointment and absolutely loved seeing the amazing Dr Nora! 🥹🖤 We’re so glad he got the care he needed and was feeling so brave! ✨🐾

🐾 Post-neuter check for our handsome Ralph! 🧡

He’s looking super comfy in his cone and, most importantly, healing beautifully! 🥹✨ We’re so happy with how well he’s recovering.

And of course… no visit is complete without some extra cuddles from Chloe afterwards. Duh! 🥰🐾
Such a brave little man! 🧡
