"Hase" was a colossal 200-foot pink rabbit installed on the Colletto Fava mountain in Italy in 2005 by the artist collective Gelitin. Knitted from wool and stuffed with straw, this biodegradable sculpture was designed to be climbed on and then slowly consumed by nature over the course of two decades. The images capture its dramatic decomposition from a vibrant, soft landmark into a weathered skeleton, until it completely dissolves back into the earth by 2025.
