πΎ Is Your Best Friend Hiding Pain? πΎ
September is Pet Pain Awareness Month, and at Care Vets, we want to help you spot the subtle signs that your BestFriend might be in discomfort.
Pets are experts at masking painβitβs an instinct inherited from their wild ancestors to hide vulnerability. Because they rarely cry out, pain often shows up in small changes to their daily habits.
Signs to Look Out For:
πΎBehaviour Shifts: Hiding, becoming withdrawn, or acting unusually irritable.
πΎMobility Changes: Stiff movement, hesitation on stairs, or reluctance to jump/walk.
πΎHabit Changes: Reduced appetite, sleeping more, or over-licking a specific joint.
πΎPosture & Vocalisation: A hunched back, whining, or unusual meowing.
Acute vs. Chronic Pain
πΎAcute Pain happens suddenly from injuries, surgery, or dental issues.
πΎChronic Pain (like arthritis) develops slowly. Itβs easy to mistake for "just getting old," but it can and should be treated.
